Position Overview
The Chief Financial Officer will serve as a key strategic partner to the executive team, driving financial strategy, optimizing operational performance, and leading our financial operations. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in the large-scale construction industry, a proven track record in executing and integrating mergers and acquisitions (M&A), and the ability to build and lead a high-performing finance team.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Strategy & Leadership
• Develop and execute the company’s financial strategy to support long-term growth and profitability objectives.
• Serve as a trusted advisor to the CEO and executive team, providing data-driven insights and strategic recommendations.
• Lead, mentor, and develop the finance and accounting teams, fostering a culture of high performance and continuous improvement.
Large-Scale Construction Financial Management
• Oversee all financial aspects of large-scale construction projects, including project costing, percentage-of-completion accounting, WIP reporting, and variance analysis.
• Manage project cash flows, bonding requirements, and risk mitigation strategies specific to the construction and infrastructure sectors.
• Collaborate closely with project management and operations teams to ensure accurate forecasting and cost control.
Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A)
• Lead the financial evaluation of potential acquisition targets, including financial modeling, valuation, and due diligence.
• Structure and negotiate M&A transactions, securing appropriate financing as needed.
• Drive the financial and operational integration of acquired companies to realize synergies and maximize value.
Financial Operations & Reporting
• Ensure the accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and compliance.
• Manage relationships with external partners, including banks, auditors, surety providers, and legal counsel.
• Implement and optimize financial systems, processes, and internal controls to scale with the company’s growth.
Qualifications
• Experience: Minimum of 10-15 years of progressive financial leadership experience, with at least 5 years serving as a CFO or VP of Finance.
• Industry Expertise: Extensive, hands-on experience in the large-scale construction, civil engineering, or infrastructure sectors is required. Deep understanding of construction accounting (WIP, percentage of completion) is mandatory.
• M&A Track Record: Proven experience successfully leading the financial aspects of mergers, acquisitions, and post-merger integrations.
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field required; MBA or CPA strongly preferred.
• Skills: Exceptional analytical, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills. Strong leadership abilities with a track record of building and developing teams. Excellent communication and presentation skills.
