Our client, a premier provider of electrical contracting services, has experienced significant growth and is looking for a transformational Chief Financial Officer (CFO). The CFO will report to the Company’s CEO and will supervise all financial operations of the corporation including, but not limited to: people leadership, strategic planning, budgeting/forecasting, continuous improvement, cash management, billing, general ledger, treasury, audit, and tax. The CFO is responsible for development of performance metrics and preparation of financial analyses and reports to support management objectives. In addition, the CFO will ensure financial risk is appropriately managed and mitigated through compliance and monitoring.
Responsibilities:
- Providing leadership, analytical support and savvy business judgment to support the management team on the development and execution of a winning strategy.
- Report to and partner with the CEO as a "right hand" lieutenant, as well as supporting other management team members in strategic decisions affecting their departments or responsibilities.
- Author the quarterly strategy meeting materials and coordinating contributions from other senior leaders.
- Serve as an effective, empowered voice on the senior management team to bring facts and thoughtful analysis to senior-level strategic decisions.
- Work with senior management to develop objectives, key results, and strategic plans.
- Deliver financial models to support business decision-making and track progress.
- Analyze operational issues impacting individual departments as well as the consolidated corporation and determining the financial impact.
- Evaluate new revenue lines, business partnership, and acquisition opportunities.
- Leading across the enterprise and functional departments.

- Actively develop direct reports including goal setting, coaching, and providing learning opportunities.

- Drive continuous improvement in financial processes and controls to ensure the accurate and timely delivery of key reports and analyses, including month-end close, sales projections, income statements, cash flow, working capital, and demand planning.
- Lead the implementation of a new ERP system and further the Company’s progression in a metrics-driven, efficient and professional finance environment.

- Prepare and deliver the Company’s annual budget with summary of business objectives supported by thoughtful assumptions. Monitor performance and share actionable insights to stakeholders,
- Ensure that effective procedures, financial infrastructure, key performance metrics, and reporting systems are developed, implemented, and maintained,
- Publish weekly flash and monthly performance reports connecting KPI’s to financial performance.
- Drive annual operating plan ensuring alignment across key stakeholders,
- Oversee backlog reporting, cash flow forecasting tied to project schedules, and working capital optimization.
- Generate cash flow forecasts and actively monitors liquidity,
- Coordinate tax compliance and reporting activities,
- Provide financial leadership in all contract negotiations,
- Responsible for the annual financial audit process,
- Ensure compliance with local, state and federal laws and regulations,
Candidate Requirements
To achieve success in this high energy, rapidly growing and entrepreneurial environment, the Chief Financial Officer will need a broad array of technical, leadership, and business operation skills. Ideal candidates will possess:
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting required, MBA and/or CPA strongly preferred.
- Fifteen years or more of increasing finance and accounting responsibility; a portion of this experience should be within the construction and/or contracting industries.
- Demonstrated success professionalizing a finance organization in a growth-oriented company.
- Deep understanding of percentage-of-completion (POC) accounting, WIP schedules, job cost reporting, and project cash flow management.
- Poven track record of implementing standardized financial controls across decentralized field operations, building FP&A capabilities beyond transactional accounting and establishing forecasting processes at the project and enterprise levels.
- Creating KPI dashboards and performance reporting for executive leadership team and Board.
- Experience with the selection, design and implementation of an ERP system.
- Detailed, metrics-driven approach to leadership and financial decision-making.
- Direct experience operating in both union and non-union labor environments.
- Ability to create a winning culture, defined by a competitive/challenger mentality.
- Demonstrated experience establishing clear, challenging performance goals and metrics for team members.
