Chief Financial Officer (CFO)

Kelly is partnering with a rapidly growing mid-size RIA firm, one of St. Louis’s “Top Workplaces”, to identify a strategic and operationally focused Chief Financial Officer (CFO) who will enter the organization during a significant phase of growth and transformation, with a long-term objective of pursuing a public offering. In addition to supporting aggressive organic growth, the company anticipates completing approximately five mergers or acquisitions annually.
Key Responsibilities
Executive & Strategic Leadership
- Serve as a strategic financial advisor to the CEO and Executive Leadership Team on growth strategy, profitability, operational performance, enterprise risk management, and long-term value creation
- Lead enterprise-wide financial planning and strategy across multiple business lines and affiliated entities
- Partner with executive leadership on mergers & acquisitions, investment initiatives, capital deployment, and organizational growth strategies
- Support a high-volume M&A environment, including financial due diligence, acquisition modeling, integration planning, and post-acquisition financial optimization
- Help lead IPO readiness initiatives, including financial infrastructure development, governance enhancement, reporting standardization, audit preparedness, and public company compliance readiness
- Deliver financial insights and analytics that support informed, data-driven executive decision-making
Financial Planning & Analysis
- Oversee budgeting, forecasting, cash flow planning, and rolling forecast processes across all entities
- Develop consolidated and segmented financial reporting to evaluate performance by company, division, and investment strategy
- Design and implement KPI dashboards and performance metrics aligned with operational and financial objectives
- Analyze business performance trends and identify opportunities for operational efficiency, profitability improvement, and scalability
Financial Operations & Governance
- Lead all core finance and accounting operations across a multi-entity organizational structure
- Ensure accurate intercompany accounting, consolidations, eliminations, and standardized reporting practices
- Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting
- Establish and maintain strong internal controls, financial governance, audit readiness, and scalable financial processes
- Oversee tax strategy, external audits, GAAP compliance, and industry-specific regulatory reporting requirements
- Partner with external advisors, auditors, legal counsel, and investment stakeholders as part of long-term public company preparation efforts
- Leverage NetSuite and related financial systems to enhance reporting capabilities, operational efficiency, scalability, and financial visibility across the enterprise
Capital Management & Investment Operations
- Manage enterprise liquidity, treasury operations, capital allocation, and banking relationships
- Optimize debt structures, credit facilities, and financing strategies to support growth objectives
- Partner with investment and fund management teams on capital deployment and return optimization initiatives
- Oversee investor reporting, capital account statements, and fund-level financial reporting, including IRR and MOIC analysis
- Support fund audits, valuations, compliance initiatives, and investor communications
Real Estate & Asset Performance
- Provide financial oversight for real estate and operating assets, including NOI performance, occupancy trends, capital expenditures, and ROI analysis
- Support acquisition, underwriting, and disposition activities through financial modeling and investment analysis
- Ensure alignment between operational execution and financial performance objectives
Leadership & Team Development
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing finance and accounting organization
- Establish scalable processes, systems, and reporting infrastructure to support continued organizational growth
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, continuous improvement, and operational excellence
Qualifications - Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field required
- CPA strongly preferred; MBA or advanced degree is a plus
- 12+ years of progressive finance leadership experience, including CFO, VP Finance, or equivalent executive leadership roles
- Proven success within complex, multi-entity organizations; experience supporting businesses exceeding $75M in revenue preferred
- Prior experience leading or significantly contributing to IPO readiness, public company preparation, or public market transactions strongly preferred
- Demonstrated experience supporting mergers and acquisitions, including due diligence, integration, and post-acquisition financial operations
- Experience building scalable financial infrastructure, controls, governance processes, and executive reporting capabilities in preparation for accelerated growth or public company environments
- Experience with NetSuite or similar ERP
- Experience within at least two of the following areas strongly preferred:
- Capital markets and/or fund management
- Real estate finance and investment operations
- Healthcare finance, including physician group environments
- Advisory or professional services organizations
- Demonstrated success building and leading high-performing finance teams
- Strong strategic, analytical, operational, and executive communication skills
- Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to operate effectively in fast-paced, high-growth environments
