Consulting Interim Fractional CFO (Hybrid – New York City). 25-30 hours/week.
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Interim Fractional Chief Financial Officer (CFO) for our client in the CPG industry. This role will partner with executive leadership and drive financial strategy for a growing organization operating across supply chain, wholesale, retail, and e-commerce channels.
This is a part-time / fractional leadership role requiring a hands-on, strategic operator who can scale finance operations, support growth initiatives, and optimize systems and processes. This role is hybrid in New York City.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Finance Leadership
- Serve as a trusted advisor to the CEO and leadership team on financial strategy, planning, and business performance
- Lead budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning processes
- Provide data-driven insights on profitability across e-commerce, wholesale, and retail channels
Operational & Systems Oversight
- Oversee financial operations including reporting, cash flow management, and internal controls
- Evaluate and optimize financial systems, including ERP and EDI integrations
- Drive improvements across order-to-cash, procure-to-pay, and inventory workflows tied to supply chain operations
Supply Chain & Inventory Finance
- Partner with operations to manage inventory, cost accounting, and supply chain economics
- Analyze margins, pricing, and cost drivers across distribution channels
- Support demand planning, vendor management, and working capital optimization
E-Commerce & Omnichannel Expertise
- Provide financial oversight and KPI tracking for direct-to-consumer (DTC) and online platforms
- Partner with commercial teams to optimize digital channel profitability, CAC, and fulfillment costs
- Support revenue recognition and reporting across multiple sales channels
Team Leadership
- Manage and mentor a small finance team (1–5 professionals)
- Provide structure, coaching, and performance oversight while remaining hands-on
- Evaluate team structure and identify gaps as the business scales
Process Improvement & Special Projects
- Lead finance transformation initiatives, including reporting enhancements and automation
- Support fundraising, lending relationships, or M&A initiatives as needed
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards and external reporting requirements
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a CFO, VP Finance, or senior finance leader in growth-stage or mid-sized companies
- Deep experience in supply chain-driven environments, including inventory and distribution models
- Strong knowledge of EDI systems, ERP platforms (NetSuite, SAP, etc.), and financial integrations
- Demonstrated success supporting e-commerce, wholesale, and retail business models
- Track record of managing and developing small, lean finance teams
- Hands-on approach with the ability to operate both strategically and tactically
- CPA, MBA, or equivalent experience preferred
