Piper Maddox are supporting a growth-stage renewable energy investor, developer and asset owner focused on the distributed generation market. The business is scaling rapidly and seeks a commercially minded CFO to build out and lead their finance function.
Rather than acting as a traditional developer, the company works alongside leading ESCOs, EPCs, developers, and multinational energy companies, allowing it to focus on what it does best: building strategic industry relationships, making disciplined investment decisions, and delivering operational excellence across its growing asset base. With over $700mm in assets and backed by a global investment powerhouse this is the opportunity to join an incredibly exciting platform during a period of huge growth.
What you will do:
- Lead the execution of corporate and structured finance transactions and collaborate with the Project Finance team on the execution of project finance transactions.
- Lead the execution and development of investment marketing materials, including but not limited to: Quarterly board presentations, investment memos, Portfolio CIMs, and financial models.
- Oversee finance function (PF, FP&A, Accounting) building process, and success. You will be the primary finance voice to the Board, presenting financial performance, strategy, and key metrics with clarity and confidence. - Ensure accurate financial reporting, audits, and compliance with GAAP, tax regulations, and investor requirements.
What you will have:
- 10+ years working within renewable energy / infrastructure with a track record in closing high value financings with a focus on project based financings.
- A background in distributed generation renewables is strongly preferred. Tax equity experience is essential; candidates who have leaned heavily into tax equity structuring and have direct closing experience will be the strongest fit.
- The business is in a growth phase and this role requires someone who is comfortable rolling up their sleeves and personally driving outcomes — not simply overseeing or delegating. A bias for action and direct involvement in transactions is critical.
- Beyond project finance, broader exposure across capital formation, FP&A, or corporate finance leadership will be a meaningful advantage. The ability to operate across the full finance function.
