Backed by a reputable private equity sponsor with a clear mandate for continued geographic expansion - both organically and through acquisition - the business is at an exciting and demanding stage of its growth journey.
This is a hands-on, high-impact opportunity for a commercially minded CFO to lead finance across a fast-paced, inventory-intensive distribution environment. The incoming CFO will partner closely with the CEO and investors to improve financial visibility, strengthen performance management, and support an active M&A and integration agenda, while maintaining key relationships with lenders and banking partners.
Key Responsibilities
- Evaluate, build, and strengthen the finance function, enhancing reporting, budgeting, month-end close, and decision-making infrastructure across a multi-site distribution network
- Lead FP&A, budgeting, and operational performance analysis, linking branch, customer, and product-level performance to financial outcomes
- Manage banking and lender relationships, supporting liquidity planning, capital structure, working capital facilities, and financing initiatives
- Drive cash flow discipline, working capital optimization, and inventory management across a complex, high-SKU distribution environment with significant supplier and sourcing complexity
- Support and help lead M&A activity, including due diligence, integration planning, and post-close financial consolidation as the business continues its acquisition-led expansion
- Act as a strategic partner to the CEO and board, bringing commercial insight, challenge, and operational perspective beyond traditional finance responsibilities
Requirements
- Current CFO or senior finance leader with 15+ years of relevant experience
- Background in multi-state distribution / wholesale businesses required
- Strong operational finance background, including inventory management, supply chain finance, and multi-location distribution exposure
- Experience supporting or executing M&A transactions, including integration, is highly valued
- Private equity-backed company experience required; exit experience preferred
- Comfortable operating in a lean, entrepreneurial environment where the finance function is still being scaled
- Located in or willing to relocate to Linden, NJ ideally. Open to commuters (on-site at least 4 days / week).
