Business Systems Analyst – Enterprise Applications
Position Summary
This company is seeking a highly capable Business Systems Analyst who thrives at the intersection of business operations and technology. This role is ideal for someone who understands how core business processes operate end-to-end and how enterprise systems support those processes behind the scenes.
The right candidate is naturally technical, curious, and proactive. They enjoy learning new systems, digging into data, solving operational problems, and partnering with both business users and technical teams to improve processes and systems.
This position will support a mix of modern and legacy business applications, including a long-standing ERP platform that remains critical to the company’s operations. Success in this role requires someone with a modern mindset who is equally comfortable working with business stakeholders, developers, infrastructure teams, and databases.
This is not a narrowly focused application support role. It is a hands-on systems and process role for someone who wants to understand how the business works and help improve it through technology.
Key Responsibilities
Business Process Analysis & Improvement
- Partner with business stakeholders across operations, finance, supply chain, customer service, and logistics to understand business processes and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Analyze and support core operational workflows including:
- Quote to Cash
- Procure to Pay
- Inventory Management
- Pick/Pack/Ship
- Service and fulfillment operations
- Translate business needs into functional requirements and collaborate with technical teams to implement effective solutions.
- Help bridge communication gaps between business users and technical teams.
Enterprise Application Support
- Triage, prioritize, and manage Help Desk Tickets related to the legacy ERP
- Support and enhance ERP and related business systems used across the organization.
- Troubleshoot application, workflow, and data issues across integrated systems.
- Participate in testing, deployment, and user support activities for system changes and enhancements.
- Assist with integration efforts between legacy platforms and newer cloud or web-based applications.
Technical & Data Analysis
- Work directly with databases, data structures, and application logic to investigate issues and support reporting and operational analysis.
- Use SQL and other tools to analyze data, troubleshoot problems, and validate business processes.
- Navigate Linux/Unix or command-line environments as needed to support applications and batch processes.
- Learn and adapt to existing systems, tools, and technologies quickly, including legacy platforms and proprietary applications.
Documentation & Collaboration
- Create and maintain process flows, technical documentation, functional specifications, and user procedures.
- Collaborate closely with developers, infrastructure teams, vendors, and business leaders.
- Support operational stability while also contributing to modernization and process improvement initiatives.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in a Business Systems Analyst, ERP Analyst, Technical Analyst, or similar role.
- Strong understanding of enterprise business processes and how ERP systems support operational workflows.
- Experience working directly with business users to gather requirements, define workflows, and solve operational challenges.
- Technical aptitude with the ability to work across applications, databases, integrations, and infrastructure teams.
- Hands-on experience querying and analyzing data using SQL or similar database technologies.
- Experience working in command-line or server-based environments (Linux/Unix preferred).
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with the ability to work independently.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Self-starter with a strong sense of ownership and curiosity.
- Comfortable learning unfamiliar technologies, systems, and business domains quickly.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting or modernizing legacy ERP systems.
- Exposure to multi-value databases or platforms such as Rocket UniVerse/U2.
- Experience with scripting or automation tools.
- Familiarity with system integrations, APIs, and data flows between enterprise applications.
- Experience in rental, leasing, distribution, logistics, inventory, or equipment-based industries.
- Exposure to reporting and analytics platforms such as Power BI.
- Understanding of application support within hybrid or cloud-hosted infrastructure environments.
