About the Opportunity
Our client is a successful, privately owned, multi-location organization seeking a hands-on Chief Financial Officer to lead Finance, Accounting, HR, and IT while serving as a trusted business partner to ownership and executive leadership.
This is an opportunity for an operationally focused finance leader who enjoys improving processes, implementing technology, developing teams, and driving continuous improvement across the organization.
The CFO will oversee all financial operations, support strategic growth initiatives, and help guide the company through its next phase of growth.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Leadership
- Lead all accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and financial planning activities.
- Ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting.
- Analyze business performance and provide actionable recommendations to ownership and leadership.
- Oversee banking, insurance, audits, tax planning, and external financial relationships.
- Review contracts and assess business and financial risk.
Operational Leadership
- Serve as a key member of the leadership team and partner with department leaders across the organization.
- Identify opportunities to improve processes, reporting, controls, and operational efficiency.
- Drive a culture of continuous improvement and accountability.
- Lead initiatives focused on automation, reporting enhancements, and business intelligence.
Technology Leadership
- Play a leadership role in the company's business systems modernization efforts.
- Partner with third-party IT providers to support infrastructure, cybersecurity, help desk, and technology initiatives.
- Leverage technology, automation, and reporting tools to improve business performance and decision-making.
HR & Administrative Oversight
- Provide executive oversight of HR programs, policies, compensation structures, and organizational development initiatives.
- Partner with external HR resources and internal leadership to support company culture and employee engagement.
Team Leadership
- Lead and mentor an established Accounting and Finance team.
- Foster a collaborative, accountable, and growth-oriented environment.
- Maintain a hands-on leadership approach while empowering team members to operate independently.
Required Qualifications
- CPA designation required.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting
- Minimum 10 years of progressive accounting and finance experience.
- Minimum 3 years of public accounting experience required; 5+ years preferred.
- Minimum 3 years of people leadership experience with direct reports.
- Experience leading accounting and finance functions in a privately held organization.
- Strong financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and operational finance experience.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills including:
- XLOOKUPs
- Power Query
- Complex formulas
- Financial modeling
- Reporting automation
- Experience with ERP systems and business process improvement initiatives.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex financial concepts to both executive and operational teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with Microsoft Dynamics Business Central or similar ERP platforms.
- Experience with Power BI, business intelligence tools, or financial dashboard development.
- Exposure to HR, payroll, compensation planning, cybersecurity, IT governance, or vendor management.
- Knowledge of percentage-of-completion accounting methodologies.
