The Chief Financial Officer is responsible for partnering with the President & CEO to lead enterprise strategy, capital allocation, and financial operations across a multi-site, capital-intensive food & beverage business. The CFO will drive revenue growth through market expansion, new product development, and M&A activity, while building the financial infrastructure to support a company in active growth mode. This role calls for a high-energy finance leader who moves fast, exercises sound judgment, and earns credibility through competence.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with the CEO and senior leadership team to develop short and long-term strategic plans, evaluate operations, and recommend corrective actions
- Drive strategic initiatives including new product partnerships, capacity expansion, capex investments, portfolio diversification, and M&A due diligence
- Evaluate and structure alternative financing arrangements, including partner-funded contributions and non-traditional capital sources
- Direct all financial reporting, planning, accounting, tax, banking, and cash management; ensure controls and record-keeping meet all regulatory and audit requirements
- Build and maintain accurate forecasting tools, performance metrics, and a rigorous costing model that accounts for commodity price fluctuation, demand, supply, and distribution dynamics
- Manage banking relationships, lead debt structuring and refinancing discussions, and present financial strategy to lenders
- Present financial results, strategy, and investment proposals to the board; help leadership understand the financial story behind key decisions, including the risks and the upside
- Conduct site visits to assess production, inventory, logistics, and customer service; identify opportunities to improve product costs and operational efficiency
- Oversee commodity risk management, hedging programs, and insurance across property, casualty, and executive lines
- Lead finance, accounting, IT, and logistics functions; develop personnel, set clear expectations, and hold people accountable
Ideal Candidate Profile
- 15+ years in senior finance roles, with at least 10 years in a financial leadership position
- Experience providing strategic leadership at a large, vertically integrated, capital-intensive business, ideally within food, beverage, or agriculture
- Prior P&L ownership and broad commercial acumen, with strengths in accounting, forecasting, budgeting, planning, resource allocation, and leadership development
- Track record of managing banking relationships and structuring debt financing
- Strong FP&A capability; able to build, review, and challenge financial models
- Comfortable with commodity-based business dynamics and the associated risk management requirements
- Operationally focused with the ability to be hands-on while also operating at a strategic level
- High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results-orientation
- Creative problem-solver with the ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions based on accurate and timely analysis
- BA in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline; Master’s degree preferred
