Role Overview
We’re seeking a hands-on, strategic CFO to partner closely with the CEO in driving financial performance, capital strategy, and scalable growth across our North American business. This role blends high-level financial leadership with day-to-day execution in a fast-moving, product-oriented environment.
The CFO will oversee all financial functions across North America including accounting, FP&A, payroll, and acquisition support; while playing a key role in capital allocation, fundraising, and strategic transactions. This leader will also help evolve the finance function through systems, automation, and data-driven decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & CEO Partnership
- Act as a trusted advisor and thought partner to the CEO on financial, strategic, and capital-related matters
- Translate company strategy into financial plans, forecasts, and KPIs
- Support decision-making on pricing, expansion, capital allocation, and investments
- Help drive company-wide accountability through data and performance metrics
Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A)
- Own budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning across North American operations
- Build and refine financial models across revenue streams and operating segments
- Deliver actionable insights on revenue, margins, and key business drivers
- Establish dashboards and reporting cadence for leadership and board-level visibility
Capital Strategy & Fundraising
- Support and lead fundraising initiatives, including debt and/or equity financing
- Manage relationships with lenders, investors, and financial partners
- Assist in optimizing capital structure and funding strategy to support growth
- Prepare materials for board, investors, and financing processes
M&A / Acquisition Support
- Support the CEO in evaluating acquisition opportunities, partnerships, and strategic investments
- Build financial models, valuations, and scenario analyses for potential transactions
- Lead or support financial due diligence, including quality of earnings and risk assessment
- Assist with deal structuring, financing considerations, and integration planning
- Help ensure smooth financial integration post-acquisition (systems, reporting, controls)
Accounting, Payroll & Financial Operations
- Oversee accounting, financial reporting, payroll, and month-end close processes
- Ensure accurate and timely payroll across US and Canadian employees, including compliance with applicable regulations
- Ensure compliance with North American financial, tax, and payroll requirements
- Maintain strong internal controls and audit readiness
- Optimize systems and workflows for efficiency and scalability
Cash Flow & Working Capital Management
- Manage cash flow, liquidity, and banking relationships
- Optimize working capital, including inventory and receivables/payables cycles
- Align financial strategy with operational realities of a product-based business
Operational Finance
- Partner with operations and commercial teams to improve margins and efficiency
- Analyze profitability across products, channels, and customer segments
- Support planning, forecasting, and vendor negotiations
- Drive cost discipline while enabling growth
Systems, Data & Finance Enablement
- Improve financial systems, reporting, and data infrastructure
- Support adoption of automation and emerging technologies
- Enhance visibility and speed of decision-making through better data integration
- Build scalable processes to support growth
Team Leadership
- Lead and develop a small but high-performing finance and payroll team
- Build scalable processes appropriate for a growing organization
- Foster a culture of ownership, clarity, and continuous improvement
Qualifications
Experience
- 10–15+ years in finance, with experience as a CFO, VP Finance, or Senior Finance leader
- Proven exposure to M&A, acquisitions, or strategic transactions
- Experience supporting or leading fundraising / financing activities
- Experience in product-based, distribution, or operationally complex businesses
- Experience operating across North America (including payroll, tax, and compliance considerations)
- Experience across both high-growth and more established environments preferred
