A growing professional services organization is seeking a Chief Financial Officer to join its leadership team. This is a senior executive role with full ownership of the finance function and a meaningful seat at the table on all major strategic decisions.
The organization is well established and expanding aggressively into new Canadian provinces and international markets. The CFO will be stepping into a business that is already in motion, and the ability to navigate the financial and regulatory complexities of multi-jurisdictional growth is the most important qualification for this role.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with the CEO and COO on growth strategy, new market entry, and long-term financial planning
- Own all financial operations including accounting, reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management
- Lead the financial setup and regulatory compliance for operations in new provinces and countries, including entity registration, local banking, and jurisdiction-specific requirements
- Oversee financial performance across all locations, keeping a close eye on revenue, collections, and profitability
- Manage cash flow and working capital across a multi-location organization
- Prepare and oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reports
- Manage external audit processes and relationships with banks, auditors, and financial advisors
- Evaluate, implement, and continuously improve financial systems and reporting tools to support a scaling organization
- Develop and monitor key performance indicators that help leadership make informed business decisions
- Support acquisition activity including financial due diligence and post-transaction integration
- Build, mentor, and develop the finance team
- Identify and manage financial and operational risk across a growing, multi-location organization
- Ensure the organization remains compliant with all financial, tax, and regulatory obligations across every jurisdiction it operates in
Requirements
- CPA designation required
- Proven track record in senior finance leadership at the CFO, VP Finance, Director of Finance, or Controller level
- Hands-on experience building out financial operations in a new province or country. This is the number one qualification for this search
- Strong understanding of multi-jurisdictional tax, regulatory, and compliance requirements across Canadian provinces and ideally internationally
- Experience managing financial operations through periods of significant organizational growth, including new office openings and acquisitions
- Ability to manage complexity across multiple entities, locations, and regulatory environments simultaneously
- Comfortable operating in a lean, entrepreneurial environment where things move quickly and priorities shift
- Demonstrated ability to build and lead high-performing finance teams
- Strong communicator who can present financial matters clearly to a non-finance audience
- Experience evaluating and implementing financial systems and technology within a growing organization
- An MBA or other advanced business qualification is considered an asset
