We're working with an ambitious AI startup building technology for the investment and financial services sector. Having developed a highly differentiated product and secured early market interest, they're now looking to make their first commercial hire.
This is a rare opportunity to join as the Founding Commercial & Go-To-Market Lead, taking ownership of how the business engages with the market, acquires customers, develops strategic partnerships, and scales revenue.
You'll work directly with the founders to define the commercial strategy and build the go-to-market function from the ground up.
The Opportunity
As the first commercial person in the business, you'll have significant autonomy and influence over how the company grows.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys operating in early-stage environments, is comfortable wearing multiple hats, and has experience selling complex technology solutions into financial institutions, private equity firms, asset managers, hedge funds, or capital markets organisations.
You'll be responsible for shaping everything from market positioning and messaging through to customer acquisition, partnerships, commercial strategy, and revenue generation.
What You'll Be Doing
- Build and execute the company's go-to-market strategy
- Develop the commercial roadmap alongside the founders
- Identify and engage target customers across financial services and investment markets
- Build relationships with private equity firms, asset managers, hedge funds, allocators, family offices, investment banks, and other financial institutions
- Own the sales process from initial outreach through to closing deals
- Create compelling messaging and positioning for a sophisticated AI-driven product
- Develop strategic partnerships that accelerate growth
- Conduct market research and competitor analysis
- Negotiate and structure commercial agreements
- Help shape future commercial hiring and team growth
What We're Looking For
- Experience in a senior commercial, sales, business development or go-to-market role
- Proven track record selling enterprise software, SaaS, data, analytics, AI or fintech solutions
- Experience selling into financial institutions, private equity firms, hedge funds, asset managers or capital markets organisations
- Startup experience with a builder mentality
- Comfortable operating with ambiguity and creating structure where none exists
- Strong commercial acumen and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to translate complex technical products into compelling customer propositions
- Entrepreneurial mindset with a desire to help build a business from an early stage
Highly Desirable
- Experience working with Bloomberg, AlphaSense, FactSet, PitchBook, Preqin, Capital IQ, DealCloud, S&P Global, Refinitiv, Morningstar or similar organisations
- Existing network within the investment and financial services ecosystem
- Experience launching new products, markets, or commercial functions
