Job Description: Director of Billing & Revenue Operations
Position Overview
We are seeking a highly analytical and experienced Director of Billing & Revenue Operations to oversee our end-to-end billing functions, ensure absolute data integrity, and drive strategic process improvements.
In this high-impact role, you will be directly responsible for the initial quality assurance (QA) of our billing processes, interpreting complex regulatory and published billing guidance, and leading both our billing and posting teams. You will bridge the gap between operations and technology by collaborating directly with our development team to implement automated billing rules.
As a key leader within the organization, you will maintain a macroscopic view of our financial health and report directly to the Board of Directors and Chief Operating Officer (COO).
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary Range: $120,000 – $180,000 per year (commensurate with experience)
- Bonus: Up to 15% of base salary based on KPI performance, assessed and paid quarterly.

Key Responsibilities
Quality Assurance & Regulatory Compliance
- Initial QA Oversight: Establish and execute robust initial QA protocols for the entire billing lifecycle to minimize errors, reduce leakage, and ensure compliance with both insurance company guidelines and approved billing practices from clients.
- Regulatory Analysis: Regularly review, interpret, and synthesize newly published industry billing guidance, coding updates, and compliance regulations.
- Strategic Adaptation: Swiftly translate updated guidance into operational workflows to ensure the company remains ahead of industry changes.
Team Leadership & Operational Management
- Departmental Oversight: Provide strategic direction and day-to-day management to the Billing and Posting teams.
- Revenue Optimization: Monitor complex accounts to ensure that partial payments, milestone billing, and exceptional accounts are accurately billed and captured as necessary.
- Performance Metrics: Define, track, and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) for the billing and posting departments (e.g., clean claim rates, error rates).
Executive Stakeholder Management
- Strategic Client Engagement: Serve as the chief subject matter expert in high-level client meetings, leading discussions regarding complex billing structures, financial reconciliations, and custom revenue agreements. Confidently articulate sophisticated billing logic and compliance frameworks to external executive stakeholders, ensuring transparency and alignment.
Cross-Functional Collaboration & Tech Integration
- Product & Dev Partnership: Act as the primary subject matter expert (SME) for the software development team, translating billing logic and regulatory changes into actionable technical requirements for rule updates.
- System Optimization: Champion the automation of billing rules within our proprietary systems to scale operations and reduce manual intervention.
Executive Stakeholder Management
- Executive Reporting: Prepare and present comprehensive financial compliance, operational health, and risk assessment reports directly to the Board and the COO.
- Strategic Advisory: Serve as a trusted advisor to executive leadership regarding revenue risks, system capabilities, and scalable growth strategies.
Qualifications & Skills
- Experience: 7–10+ years of progressive experience in revenue cycle management, complex corporate billing, or financial operations, with at least 3–5 years in a senior leadership/managerial role. Behavioral Health and Consulting experience a plus.
- Regulatory Expertise: Deep familiarity with reading and applying complex, published payer billing guidelines
- Leadership: Demonstrated success managing multi-functional teams (specifically billing verification and cash posting functions).
- Communication: Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to translate technical billing complexities into clear concepts for developers, and high-level financial metrics for the Board.
- Education (Preferred): Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or a related field (Master’s degree or relevant certifications preferred).
Pay: $120,000.00 - $180,000.00 per year
