We have been engaged by a large faith-based, non-profit healthcare system in Texas to find their next Regional Chief Financial Officer. I have placed with this system several times and can tell you about their financial viability, their culture, and their constant aim towards excellent patient care.
The Regional Chief Financial Officer provides executive financial leadership for a regional healthcare market consisting of two hospitals, including an acute care hospital and a critical access hospital, along with approximately 15 outpatient clinics. Together, the region generates nearly $600 million in annual net revenue.
This person will report to the SVP CFO of the system and the Regional President, who have both been with this same organization for over 20+ years! This system operates on a highly collaborative Center of Excellence finance model, partnering closely with executive leaders across accounting, revenue cycle, corporate finance, treasury, supply chain, and operations.
The CFO Will Own:
- Month end financial close process.
- Oversee the annual operating and capital budgeting process.
- Develop long range financial plans, pro formas, and business cases to support strategic growth.
- Partner with operational leaders to improve financial, labor, and productivity performance.
- Serve as the primary financial advisor to the regional executive leadership team.
- Collaborate with system leaders across accounting, revenue cycle, treasury, corporate finance, supply chain, and operations within a matrixed environment.
- Lead and mentor a regional finance team while supporting system wide financial initiatives and operational excellence.
Requirements
- Master’s in Healthcare, Business, or Finance required. Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business or related field required.
- CPA/CFP, or a combination of advanced education and financial certifications strongly preferred
- Current or previous hospital Chief Financial Officer experience required.
- 10+ acute care hospital finance experience required, 5 years of leadership experience required.
- Demonstrated expertise in budgeting, financial planning, forecasting, business case development, and executive financial decision support.
- Mastery of GAAP, government reimbursement, and tax regulations in healthcare required.
- Proven ability to build strong partnerships and influence executive leaders across a complex health system.
- Experience supporting ambulatory clinics or critical access hospitals is a plus.
The salary midpoint for this role is $325,000 with a swing on either side based on years of experience and education. This also comes with a 25% management incentive bonus and large relocation assistance!
