Chief Financial Officer
A privately held organization within the financial services sector is conducting a confidential search for an accomplished finance executive to join its leadership team. This executive will oversee the organization's financial strategy, operational performance, regulatory reporting, and capital planning while partnering closely with senior leadership to support continued growth and long-term business objectives.
This role is designed for an experienced executive who thrives in a dynamic environment and possesses a strong foundation in financial leadership. Candidates with experience in financial services, professional services, insurance, or other recurring revenue industries are encouraged to apply. Property & Casualty insurance experience is preferred, although executives with transferable expertise and the ability to quickly master the business model will be considered.
Position Overview
As the senior financial executive, you will provide strategic oversight of all finance, accounting, treasury, planning, and reporting functions. Working alongside the CEO and executive leadership team, you will develop financial strategies, optimize operational performance, and ensure the organization maintains sound financial practices while meeting regulatory and business requirements.
Primary Responsibilities
Enterprise Financial Strategy
- Develop and execute the organization's financial strategy to support business growth and long-term objectives.
- Evaluate organizational performance through financial analysis and operational metrics.
- Deliver meaningful financial insights that assist executive leadership with strategic decision-making.
- Lead initiatives focused on expense management, profitability, and financial efficiency.
Executive Leadership & Corporate Planning
- Act as a trusted advisor to the CEO and executive leadership team.
- Participate in corporate planning, organizational initiatives, and strategic business decisions.
- Prepare executive-level presentations for Board meetings, rating agency reviews, and other key stakeholders.
- Collaborate with external partners regarding capital structure, reinsurance strategies, and financial planning.
Financial Planning & Business Analysis
- Direct the annual budgeting process and ongoing financial forecasting.
- Monitor operating results and identify opportunities to improve financial performance.
- Provide recommendations regarding capital deployment, profitability, and strategic investments.
- Develop forecasting models that improve business planning and financial visibility.
Treasury & Capital Management
- Oversee cash management, liquidity planning, and investment reporting.
- Maintain relationships with banking institutions and strategic financial partners.
- Monitor capital resources and support initiatives that strengthen financial performance.
Accounting, Reporting & Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure the integrity of all accounting operations and financial reporting processes.
- Maintain compliance with applicable accounting standards and insurance regulatory requirements.
- Oversee timely preparation of financial statements, statutory filings, and responses to regulatory inquiries.
- Strengthen internal controls and continuously improve accounting processes.
Audit, Tax & Financial Controls
- Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close activities.
- Oversee GAAP and statutory financial reporting requirements.
- Coordinate external audits and maintain audit readiness throughout the year.
- Review tax reporting, reserve analyses, and other technical accounting matters.
Administrative Financial Oversight
- Manage cash forecasting, receivable activities, and payment processes.
- Oversee financial aspects of corporate real estate agreements, including lease administration and negotiations when appropriate.
Candidate Profile
The successful candidate will demonstrate exceptional financial leadership, business acumen, and strategic thinking with the ability to influence executive decision-making.
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive executive financial leadership experience.
- At least 7 years serving as Chief Financial Officer or equivalent executive finance leader within a complex organization.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related discipline required.
- Active CPA designation required.
- Proven ability to lead high-performing finance teams while partnering effectively with executive leadership.
- Excellent analytical, communication, presentation, and relationship management skills.
- Demonstrated success implementing financial strategies that improve organizational performance and support sustainable growth.
