Position Summary
We are seeking a strategic and experienced Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join our executive team. The CFO will be responsible for overseeing all financial operations of the company, including financial planning and analysis, budgeting, accounting, risk management, and investor relations. The CFO will play a critical role in shaping the company’s financial strategy and ensuring compliance with the unique regulatory environment governing the cannabis industry in Ontario and Canada. This role requires a strategic thinker with deep financial expertise, strong leadership skills, and experience navigating complex regulatory and compliance frameworks. The CFO will be in charge of managing a team of 5 – 8 people.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute financial strategies that support the company’s growth and long-term success.
- Lead budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling to support business planning and decision-making, which advising the CEO and executive
- Oversee all aspects of financial management including accounting, forecasting, and reporting.
- Ensure timely and accurate preparation of financial statements.
- Ensure adherence to cannabis-specific regulations, including Health Canada’s licensing requirements, tax regulations, and financial reporting standards.
- Implement robust internal controls to mitigate financial, operational, and compliance risks.
- Liaise with external auditors, legal advisors, and regulatory bodies as needed.
- Lead internal controls and audit processes to protect company assets.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with shareholders, investors, analysts, and financial institutions.
- Lead and develop a high-performing finance team.
- Promote a culture of accountability, integrity, and operational excellence.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with operations, sales, and compliance teams.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement and financial accountability across the organization.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or related field; MBA or CPA strongly preferred.
- 10+ years of progressive financial leadership experience
- Demonstrated experience in strategic planning, financial modeling, and capital management.
- Strong understanding of corporate finance, accounting principles, and regulatory compliance.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
- Familiarity with financial analytics tools.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $180,000.00-$220,000.00 per year
