CFO – Southeast Industrial & Commercial Mechanical Construction | Georgia
Gryphon Oakwood is partnered with a rapidly growing Industrial & Commercial Mechanical Contractor seeking a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) based in Georgia to lead the financial strategy and performance of its Southeast business operations.
The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience within the construction industry, with a strong understanding of job costing, WIP reporting, project controls, progress billing, retainage, cash flow management, and financial planning & analysis. Experience supporting operations across Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing (MEP), Millwright, Rigging, Service & Maintenance, and Fire Protection disciplines is highly desirable.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
- CPA, CMA, MBA, or other advanced financial qualification preferred.
- 15+ years of progressive financial leadership experience within construction, industrial services, engineering, or mechanical contracting environments.
- Proven experience as a CFO, VP Finance, Finance Director, Corporate Controller, or equivalent executive finance leadership role.
- Strong understanding of construction accounting principles, including WIP reporting, percentage-of-completion accounting, job costing, and project forecasting.
- Experience managing banking, lending, bonding, and surety relationships.
- Demonstrated success leading financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management for organizations with revenues exceeding $200M.
- Experience supporting acquisitions, integrations, or high-growth business environments preferred.
- Strong leadership capabilities with experience building and developing finance, accounting, payroll, and administrative teams.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to present financial information to executive leadership, boards, lenders, and investors.
Responsibilities
- Lead all financial operations across the Southeast business units, ensuring strong financial performance and operational discipline.
- Develop and execute the company's financial strategy in alignment with overall business objectives and growth plans.
- Oversee budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and long-range financial planning.
- Manage company cash flow, working capital, and liquidity to support ongoing operations and growth initiatives.
- Monitor project financial performance through job costing, WIP reporting, forecasting, and profitability analysis.
- Partner closely with operational leadership to improve project margins, mitigate financial risks, and drive performance improvements.
- Maintain relationships with banks, lenders, sureties, auditors, and external financial partners.
- Lead annual audits, tax planning, compliance activities, and financial governance initiatives.
- Provide financial analysis and strategic recommendations to support executive decision-making.
- Evaluate acquisition opportunities, conduct financial due diligence, and support post-acquisition integration activities.
- Build and develop a high-performing finance and accounting organization while fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
- Drive process improvements, reporting enhancements, and system optimization initiatives to support scalability and future growth.
