About the Position
TEAK is seeking a strategic, collaborative, and mission-driven financial leader to serve as Chief Financial Officer. The CFO will serve as TEAK’s senior financial leader and a key member of the senior leadership team, responsible for financial strategy, long-term planning, budgeting, forecasting, accounting, audit, compliance, risk management, endowment oversight, and the financial and administrative systems that support TEAK’s mission and sustainability.
Reporting to the CEO, the CFO will partner closely with the CEO, senior leadership team, Board of Directors, Finance and Audit Committee, Investment Committee, Development team, and external partners to ensure strong financial stewardship and informed organizational decision-making. The CFO will advise leadership and the Board on financial performance, strategic opportunities, risk, resource allocation, and long-term sustainability.
The CFO will oversee finance, business, and related administrative functions. The CFO will also supervise internal staff and external consultants, including accounting, audit, investment, insurance, payroll, technology, and other vendor relationships.
This is a senior executive leadership role for an individual who combines strong technical financial expertise with strategic judgment, operational discipline, collaborative leadership, and a deep commitment to TEAK’s mission.
Qualifications
- 10+ years of progressively responsible experience in finance, accounting, administration, operations, or a related field, with a preference for significant senior leadership experience.
- Significant experience with nonprofit financial management, budgeting, forecasting, audit preparation, internal controls, compliance, and Board reporting.
- Strong understanding of GAAP and nonprofit accounting principles.
- Demonstrated experience leading annual budgets, multi-year financial planning, financial modeling, and scenario analysis.
- Experience advising executive leadership and Boards on financial performance, risk, sustainability, and strategic decision-making.
- Experience with endowment oversight, investment reporting, reserves, restricted funds, donor restrictions, or comparable long-term financial stewardship.
- Experience overseeing payroll, benefits administration, HR compliance, insurance, and employee-related financial processes.
- Experience supervising staff, consultants, vendors, and external partners.
- Strong analytical skills and ability to translate complex financial information clearly for non-finance audiences.
- Excellent judgment, discretion, and ability to handle confidential financial, personnel, and organizational information.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a collaborative and service-oriented leadership style.
- Demonstrated commitment to equity, inclusion, and TEAK’s mission of supporting students from under-resourced communities.
Compensation and Benefits
Salary range: $160,000 - $200,000, commensurate with experience.
