Chief Financial Officer (CFO)

Company Overview
Our firm is representing a mid-sized company headquartered in Nashville, TN, generating approximately $200 million in annual revenue and employing approximately 200 people. As we continue to grow, we are seeking a strategic and hands-on Chief Financial Officer to lead our Finance and Accounting function and serve as a key advisor to the executive leadership team.
Position Summary
The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) will serve as a critical member of the executive leadership team, responsible for leading the company's finance and accounting operations while acting as a strategic advisor to the CEO and broader leadership on business decisions, growth initiatives, and long-term financial planning. This role requires a leader who can balance day-to-day financial stewardship with big-picture strategic thinking, and who is comfortable operating in a dynamic, mid-sized company environment.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Management
- Lead, mentor, and develop the finance and accounting team, fostering a culture of accountability, accuracy, and continuous improvement.
- Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including financial reporting, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and internal controls.
- Build organizational capability and scalable processes to support company growth.
Strategic Advisory
- Serve as a trusted strategic advisor to the CEO and executive team on financial matters, business strategy, and growth opportunities.
- Provide financial analysis and insight to support key business decisions, including capital investments, M&A activity, and new business initiatives.
- Partner cross-functionally with department leaders to align financial planning with operational goals.
Financial Planning & Reporting
- Own the annual budgeting process, financial forecasting, and long-range planning.
- Ensure timely, accurate financial statements and management reporting in accordance with GAAP.
- Present financial performance and key metrics to the CEO, board of directors, and/or investors as needed.
Risk, Compliance & Controls
- Maintain strong internal controls and ensure compliance with all regulatory, tax, and audit requirements.
- Manage relationships with external auditors, banks, insurance providers, and other financial partners.
- Identify and mitigate financial and operational risks.
Treasury & Capital Management
- Oversee cash flow management, banking relationships, and capital structure decisions.
- Evaluate financing options and manage relationships with lenders or investors as applicable.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 15+ years of progressive finance/accounting experience, including prior experience in a senior financial leadership role (CFO, VP Finance, or Controller transitioning to CFO).
- Proven experience leading and developing a finance and accounting team.
- Strong track record serving as a strategic business partner to executive leadership.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to translate financial data into actionable business insight.
Strongly Preferred
- Experience at a Big Four or large national/regional CPA firm.
- Active CPA license in good standing.
Preferred
- Experience in the entertainment industry (music, media, live events, or related sectors) — not required, but a plus.
- MBA or other advanced degree.
- Experience with ERP systems and financial planning software.
