Avatrial exists to save the lives of patients with cancer by accelerating the global mission towards superior, personalised treatments. We are building a unique end-to-end cancer drug discovery platform that combines access to high-quality human tissue samples, full-stack multi-omic data generation, artificial intelligence and machine learning, and rapid experimental validation to identify and develop better cancer therapies, faster.
As we grow, we are looking for a Business Operations Project Manager to join us on-site. This is not a role managing one or two discrete projects – at Avatrial, the company itself is the project. You will bring genuine project management discipline to how we run: planning, sequencing, and tracking work across lab science, data science, regulatory, IT, quality, business development, and strategic partnerships, treating our ongoing operations as a live portfolio to be actively managed.
You will not need to be a domain expert in any of these areas. What you will need is real, demonstrable project management experience and methodology – the ability to build a project plan, manage a risk register, run a RACI matrix, and hold people accountable to deadlines – combined with enough fluency in the language of lab science, data science, and regulatory work to know where the risks and bottlenecks sit before they become problems. The ideal candidate will have Project Management certification (e.g. PRINCE2, PMP, APM PMQ, or Agile) or actively working towards one, combined with demonstrated application of structured Project Management methodology in practice.
Alongside this core project management focus, the role also includes a smaller supporting element of general company administration – helping with finance, HR, and office functions as needed.
This is a mid-level, full-time, on-site role. It is not an executive position – you will be on the ground, applying PM discipline directly, rather than setting high-level strategy. As Avatrial grows, we expect this role to evolve.
We are looking for an ambitious, experienced project manager who wants to take real ownership, apply their methodology in a genuinely mission-driven environment, and grow their career alongside a fast-moving biotechnology company.
Salary: £40,000–£55,000, depending on experience
