Role Description The CFO / Controller is a full-time, on-site position based in Indianapolis, IN, responsible for overseeing all financial operations of Malibu Wellness, Inc. This role manages accounting functions, including general ledger, accounts payable and receivable, payroll, and financial reporting, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulatory standards. The CFO / Controller will develop and monitor budgets, forecasts, cash flow, and financial performance metrics to support strategic decision-making and long-term growth. Day-to-day responsibilities include leading the finance team, managing audits, optimizing internal controls, and providing clear financial insights to executive leadership and employee-owners. The role also involves partnering with operations and other departments to align financial planning with business objectives, support ESOP administration, and drive continuous improvement in processes and systems.
Qualifications
- Strong financial management and accounting skills, including expertise in budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and GAAP-compliant financial reporting.
- Experience overseeing core accounting operations such as general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and month-end and year-end close processes.
- Proficiency in financial analysis, data interpretation, and the use of financial software and ERP systems to inform strategic business decisions.
- Knowledge of internal controls, audit processes, risk management, and regulatory compliance, including experience working with external auditors.
- Leadership and team management capabilities, with a track record of developing finance staff and collaborating effectively with cross-functional partners.
- Background in ESOP or employee-owned organizations, or willingness to learn ESOP structures and support related financial administration.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex financial information in a clear, accessible manner.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA, CMA, or MBA strongly preferred.
- Experience in consumer products, beauty, wellness, or manufacturing environments is beneficial.
