Who are we looking for?
We are seeking a Business Operations Manager to join Office of the Chief People Officer, People Services, Administrative Division.
The Business Operations Manager manages activities to provide high level executive support to the Vice-President People and Chief People Officer and the wider portfolio leads to enhance and facilitate the achievement of the People Services portfolio objectives. The position is responsible for researching, drafting, and reviewing submissions, policy, proposals and responses to correspondence, liaising with staff both within and external to the Division and external to the University. The position contributes to and manages operational and strategic processes of the portfolio and works with the Vice-President People and Chief People Officer to facilitate work of the executive portfolio. This position is also responsible for undertaking strategic planning, overseeing the portfolio’s budget, workforce profiles and succession planning. This position also leads a team of centralised support staff that work across the portfolio to deliver services and specialist support.

What You Need To Succeed
- Education, training and/or experience equivalent to completion of a postgraduate qualification and extensive relevant management experience.
- Proven research and analytical skills for investigating issues, interpreting trends, policies and practices, and providing recommendations and advice.
- Demonstrated highly developed written communication skills to research and prepare complex documents, presentations and communications.
- Highly developed interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to consult, negotiate and liaise with stakeholders, senior managers and other staff both internal and external to achieve effective outcomes, while also demonstrating respect for sensitivity and confidentiality of issues.
- High level analytical and problem solving skills, with demonstrated ability to identify emerging issues, trends and opportunities and provide recommendations and advice.
- Demonstrated ability to apply judgement to complex and/or sensitive issues, and problem solve, including analytical skills to investigate issues and interpret trends.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and manage a small team of staff to deliver high performance and excellence in service provision.
- Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity and Indigenous Australian engagement.
