Who We Are
Paramverse Bio Pvt. Ltd. is building India's next great bio company, with a focus on biological agriculture. Founded in 2024 and part of Paramverse Group, it develops and sells indigenous microbial formulations under the DHARITRI SUTRA™ brand. The portfolio spans 21 registered products across three lines: RAKSHAK (bio-protection), POSHAK (bio-nutrition), and AMRITAM (export-grade compliance).
Every product is delivered through the "Doctor of Soil" model: a certified agronomist, a personalised prescription, and data to show whether it worked. Paramverse Bio is live across nine Indian states in Phase 1 (FY27), with 48 territories, institutional-grade manufacturing, and field-to-export traceability.
About the Role
The CFO owns Paramverse's finance function end to end — bookkeeping, compliance, and payroll as much as treasury, planning, and governance — in a lean, early-stage environment with no legacy processes to build on. This is a hands-on leadership role: the CFO personally builds the systems and controls a small team need, decides what to run in-house versus outsource, and reports directly to the founders as part of the core leadership team.
Key Responsibilities
1. Financial Recording & Reporting
- Own bookkeeping, accounts payable/receivable and credit control, directly or through a lean outsourced team you manage tightly
- Set up financial recording and reporting from day one — clean books are non-negotiable even at small scale
- Run statutory and internal audits, and stay ahead of compliance rather than scrambling at year-end
- Manage direct and indirect taxation, including startup-specific exemptions and filings
- Run payroll accurately and on time as headcount grows
- Build a document and records-management system the team can actually use, without needing a dedicated ops person
2. Corporate Financial Operations & Risk Management
- Manage working capital and arrange project/growth finance as the business scales, with a bias toward capital-efficient structures
- Oversee any international trade, forex exposure and cross-border payments, and support international partnerships
- Manage company investments and cash reserves, prioritizing safety and liquidity over yield
- Own cash flow monitoring and forecasting — in a startup, runway visibility is a weekly discipline, not a monthly report
- Advise on corporate structuring (entities, subsidiaries, holding structure) as the business grows
- Manage physical assets, property, equipment and infrastructure, including insurance, depreciation and valuation, kept as lightweight as the business allows.
3. Business Performance Strategy, Planning & Control
- Contribute to business strategy formulation and governance, translating financial performance into clear recommendations for the founders
- Build and manage budgets and forecasts that hold up under fast-changing assumptions, and revise them as the business learns
- Track financial and business performance metrics, and explain — and close — the gap between plan and actuals
- Own product/service costing, including unit economics, so pricing and margin decisions are made on real numbers
- Stand up lightweight MIS, reporting, analytics and ratio analysis, and use them to generate insights, not just compliance paperwork.
4. Corporate Governance, Regulatory & Legal Management
- Build and maintain the regulatory and compliance framework the company operates under, and keep it current as rules and the business change
- Manage company-law compliance, board affairs and the cap table; prepare board decks and support effective board decision-making
- Design and implement an internal controls and risk management framework sized for a startup — enough rigor to protect the business, without choking speed
- Shape corporate citizenship and policy — the practical policies (expenses, approvals, data, ethics) a growing team actually needs.
5. Process Optimization & Technology Integration
- Treat this as a core part of the role, not a side project: at our size, the finance stack you choose is the finance team
- Select and implement accounting, payroll, expense and reporting tools that automate routine work rather than adding headcount
- Continuously simplify processes — accounts, approvals, reconciliations, compliance filings — so they scale without breaking
- Identify where technology can replace manual effort first, and where a human judgment call still matters.
Requirements
- Chartered Accountant, CPA, or equivalent qualification; MBA in Finance is a plus
- 12+ years in finance, with meaningful experience in a startup or fast-growing company where you personally did the work, not just reviewed it
- Demonstrated range across accounting/compliance, treasury/cash management, planning & analysis, and governance — not a single narrow specialty
- Experience setting up finance processes and systems from a low base, rather than only operating within an established function
- Working knowledge of relevant corporate, tax and regulatory law; comfort working closely with legal/company secretarial matters
- Fluency with modern finance and accounting tools, and a genuine interest in automating manual work.
Who Thrives in This Role
- Builders, not just administrators — energized by creating a function from nothing rather than optimizing one that already exists
- Comfortable with ambiguity and limited resources, and resourceful about getting things done without a big team or budget
- High ownership: willing to personally do detailed, hands-on work alongside setting strategy
- Pragmatic risk judgment — knows when to be rigorous and when “good enough for our stage” is the right call
- Clear communicators who can translate finance for founders, investors and non-finance teammates
