Position: Chief Financial Officer (CFO)
Location: Ontario, CA - On-site
Overview: Rose, Snyder & Jacobs is conducting an exclusive search for our long-standing client seeking a CFO with hands-on leadership skills to join a well-established, family-owned business in Southern California. Our client is a dynamic and growing steel service center that has been in operation for several decades. Known for its strong customer loyalty and a dedicated team with many long-term employees, this company is looking for an experienced CFO who will not only drive financial strategy but also roll up their sleeves and actively participate in the day-to-day operations. This position reports directly to the CEO and will play a key role in the company's modernization and growth.
Responsibilities:
- Financial Strategy & Leadership: Lead the company’s financial operations, ensuring that financial statements are produced quickly and accurately.
- Modernization Efforts: Spearhead efforts to modernize financial systems and software and enhance the company’s technology infrastructure.
- Cost Accounting & Inventory Management: Oversee cost accounting, inventory, and distribution processes, ensuring efficiency in maintaining large inventories and handling complex ordering cycles.
- Cash Management: Review bank statements, ensure cash is managed efficiently, and establish clear processes for releasing cash on a daily basis.
- Cross-Department Collaboration: Work closely with various departments, including purchasing, sales, and operations, to align financial goals with business objectives and ensure seamless operations across all functions.
- Process Improvement: Focus on eliminating redundancies, enhancing compliance, and optimizing systems to better support the growing business.
Requirements:
- Experience: At least 5 years of experience in cost accounting, inventory management, and distribution, preferably within the steel, manufacturing, or distribution sectors.
- Hands-on Leadership: Proven ability to lead by example in a fast-paced, hands-on environment. The ideal candidate will not shy away from rolling up their sleeves and being involved in the day-to-day operations.
- Software Proficiency: Familiarity with customized ERP systems (specifically DOS-based platforms) and a strong command of Excel, Word, and Outlook. Experience with Metal Service Management software is a plus.
- Strong Cash Management Skills: A demonstrated ability to effectively manage cash flow, conduct audits, and identify opportunities for financial improvement.
- Visionary & Strategic Thinking: While this is a hands-on role, the CFO must also possess the foresight and intellectual curiosity to drive the company toward future growth.
- Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with the steel industry is highly preferred, especially in managing large lead times, maintaining inventory, and working with large quantities of steel and related products.

Additional Qualifications:
- Bilingual (Spanish) is a plus
- Experience with distribution or tangible product businesses is highly desirable

Benefits:
- Salary: $155k-$225k (commensurate with experience)
