OPPORTUNITY
NPW is seeking an experienced and strategic Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join our growing firm. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting and financial management within the securities industry, with a deep understanding of CIRO regulatory requirements. This individual will be responsible for overseeing financial planning, capital management, financial reporting, and internal controls, ensuring the firm maintains compliance with CIRO standards while driving financial efficiency and profitability.
The CFO will play a key role in shaping business strategies alongside the executive leadership team, providing financial insights to support growth, and ensuring the firm operates within a strong financial and regulatory framework. This is an exciting opportunity for a results-driven finance leader to contribute to the ongoing success and expansion of our firm.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversee day-to-day accounting operations to ensure compliance with CIRO regulations, internal policies, and financial reporting standards.
- Prepare and submit accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and regulatory reports in accordance with CIRO requirements.
- Monitor and maintain the firm’s risk-adjusted capital (RAC) to ensure compliance with minimum capital thresholds.
- Act as the primary liaison with CIRO, external auditors, and regulatory bodies on all financial and compliance matters.
- Implement and maintain strong internal financial controls to safeguard the firm’s assets and ensure regulatory adherence.
- Prepare and review monthly balance sheet account reconciliations with supporting documentation.
- Analyze and reconcile financial accounts on a monthly and quarterly basis to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Support the enhancement and optimization of the accounting software system to improve operational efficiency.
- Assist in developing, implementing, and maintaining accounting policies and procedures aligned with regulatory standards.
- Lead process improvement initiatives to enhance the financial close process and strengthen internal controls.
- Oversee and ensure the accurate and timely processing of the bi-monthly payroll.
- Other responsibilities as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS:
- CPA, CA, or CFA designation is required.
- Minimum 10 years of progressive financial leadership experience, preferably in wealth management, investment advisory, or financial services.
- Partners, Directors and Senior Officers course (PDO) required.
- In-depth understanding of CIRO regulatory requirements, including capital adequacy, financial reporting, and regulatory filings.
- Strong financial modeling, forecasting, and analytical skills.
- Proven experience in managing capital, liquidity, and financial risks within a regulated wealth management firm.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to influence and drive business growth.
- Experience in dealing with CIRO, external auditors, and regulatory bodies.
- Proficiency in using financial software and Microsoft Office Suite skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and record keeping.
ASSETS:
- Expertise in securities industry accounting
- QuickBooks Online Software knowledge
- Fluently bilingual - English/French
- CPA designation
