Buro Happold is recruiting a Business Operations Manager to oversee the Business Support team and Office Operations team in our UK region, creating strategies for both teams to evolve and align with the needs of the UK Leadership.
Based from either our London or Bath office, this will oversee large-scale projects, encompassing the estate management of UK offices, staff development plans, practices and structures, and improvements, setting clear direction. ensuring smooth integration of business processes while being aligned with UK and global strategies.

Key duties:
- Line manage the UK Business Support Manager and the UK Office Operations Manager, providing leadership for both on all improvement projects, setting clear directions and ensuring both teams evolve and align with UK and global strategies.
- Oversight and management of office leases and sub-leases, developing and implementing standardised office operational policies and procedures across the UK, ensuing consistency in office operations and cost management as well as leading on property improvement projects ensuring compliance with regulations.
- Manage lease renewals and reviews.
- Analyse market trends to develop long-term property management strategies, ensuring our offices are fit for purpose and align with employee requirements, aligning strategies with organisational goals in collaboration with the UK COO and Leadership.
- Identify and mitigate potential risks within the property portfolio, monitoring project progress and escalating issues as necessary.
- Develop staff improvement plans and strategies fostering a culture of continuous improvement, professional development, and inclusivity, whilst providing pastoral care, ensuring the continual wellbeing of staff.
- Conduct performance reviews and provide mentorship, and undertake best practice in recruitment and training.
Your skills and experience:
- Extensive experience in team management, development, and leadership.
- Strong project management skills.
- Demonstrable finance and budgeting experience.
- Advanced IT skills, especially in Microsoft Office.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills.
- Ability to manage and prioritise a busy and varied workload.
- Proactive and confident in taking the lead in challenging situations.
- Highly organised with the proven ability to prioritise and work to tight deadlines.
- Resilient with excellent communication skills and demonstrate an attention to detail.
