Contract / Interim 6 months with a possible temp to perm for the right candidate
Overview
We are seeking an experienced Interim CFO to support a private equity-backed, acquisitive content production agency operating internationally, with revenues under £30m. The business is at a critical inflection point, requiring transformation of financial planning & analysis (FP&A), improved reporting quality, and stronger financial control to support ongoing growth and M&A activity.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Leadership & Control
• Take ownership of the finance function, stabilising and enhancing financial controls, processes, and governance
• Improve the accuracy, timeliness, and reliability of financial information across the group
• Ensure audit readiness and support investor and lender reporting
FP&A Transformation
• Build and embed a best-in-class FP&A capability
• Develop robust budgeting, forecasting, and reforecasting processes
• Introduce meaningful KPIs and performance reporting to support decision-making
• Drive commercial insight into project profitability, utilisation, and margin performance
Information & Reporting Improvement
• Lead the turnaround of management information quality, ensuring consistency across international entities
• Implement clear, standardised reporting packs for PE stakeholders
• Improve data integrity and systems (including potential upgrades or integrations)
Commercial & Strategic Support
• Partner closely with the CEO and leadership team to provide actionable financial insight
• Support pricing, resource planning, and operational efficiency initiatives
• Provide financial input into strategic planning and growth initiatives
M&A & Integration
• Support ongoing and potential acquisitions, including financial due diligence and integration
• Ensure acquired businesses are aligned to group reporting standards and processes
Candidate Profile
• Proven experience as an Interim CFO / FD within a PE-backed environment
• Strong background in agencies, content production, or project-based businesses (highly desirable)
• Demonstrable track record of:
o Building or transforming FP&A functions
o Improving management information and reporting quality
o Operating in international, multi-entity environments
• Experience supporting M&A and integration in an acquisitive business
• Hands-on approach with the ability to operate both strategically and operationally
• Strong stakeholder management skills, including experience working with private equity investors
