Interim Chief Financial Officer

A PE backed infrastructure business with c.£35m revenue is seeking an immediately available Interim CFO to support the business through a critical phase of growth, professionalisation, and operational scaling.
Backed by a prominent mid-cap investor, the business operates within a highly capital-intensive environment, requiring significant ongoing infrastructure investment and financial management. Reporting directly to the CEO and working closely with investors, this role will lead the finance function while driving improvements across reporting, forecasting, controls, cash flow visibility, and organisational structure.
As the CFO, you will bring proven experience operating as a CFO within PE-backed, capital-intensive businesses, ideally across telecoms, infrastructure, utilities, or similarly asset-heavy environments. Strong experience managing CapEx-heavy operating models, infrastructure investment cycles, and scaling finance functions through periods of change is essential.
Alongside providing strategic leadership, the role requires a hands-on operator capable of quickly assessing existing structures, developing a team of c.10, and helping professionalise the business in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the finance function through a period of growth and operational transformation.
- Partner closely with the CEO and investors, providing strategic financial insight and performance visibility.
- Oversee budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and financial reporting.
- Manage financial oversight of significant CapEx and infrastructure investment programmes.
- Review and improve finance team structures, controls, and operational processes.
- Lead and develop a finance team of c.10.
- Support broader business transformation and professionalisation initiatives.
Candidate Profile
- Proven interim CFO experience within PE-backed businesses, the investor wants to see individuals who are proven interim operators, not perm CFOs who are looking to pursue interim opportunities.
- Strong background within capital-intensive sectors such as telecoms, infrastructure, connectivity, utilities, or related industries.
- Experience managing CapEx-heavy business models and infrastructure investment programmes.
- Strong leadership capability with experience developing and restructuring finance teams.
- Hands-on, commercially minded, and comfortable operating in fast-paced environments.
- Strong stakeholder management experience with investors and senior leadership teams.
- Immediately available or available at short notice preferred.
