The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is a key executive responsible for providing strategic financial leadership and oversight across the enterprise, including, financial operations, planning, and strategic initiatives for the credit union and its Credit Union Service Organizations (CUSOs). Reporting directly to the Executive Vice President, the CFO oversees accounting, finance (including Secondary Marketing), and sourcing capital/investments. As a critical member of the Senior Leadership team, the CFO collaborates on the financial implications of major decisions, drive financial strategy implementation, conduct due diligence for acquisitions/investments, and ensure the credit union maintains a strong financial position to support its mission and growth objectives. The CFO oversees the senior leaders heading the accounting and finance functions, providing expert financial counsel to guide executives in successfully discharging their duties aligned with the company's overarching strategy.
What you will do here:
Strategic Financial Planning, Analysis and Forecasting
Develop and oversee the implementation of financial strategies, plans, and forecasts that support the organization's short and long-term objectives. This involves conducting in-depth financial analysis to identify opportunities, risks, and trends, and providing data-driven recommendations to the executive team to guide decision-making. Manage capital planning, ensuring adequate capital levels to fund growth initiatives while maintaining a strong financial position. Prudent capital allocation, investment management, financial risk mitigation, and alignment with strategic goals, to optimize the organization's financial health and performance.
Financial Operations, Reporting, and Control
Provide strategic guidance and oversight to ensure finance and accounting operate effectively and efficiently. Ultimately accountable for the accurate and timely execution of all financial operations, including accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, compliance, and auditing. Analyze financial data, identify trends and risks, and ensure robust internal controls and risk management practices are in place across the enterprise. Responsible for the overall financial health, compliance, capital management, and investment strategies of the organization.
Team Leadership and Development
Build a high-performing team by recruiting, developing, and retaining top talent across accounting, finance, enterprise risk, and other areas by providing leadership, coaching, and employee development. Identify and develop future finance leaders, create succession plans, promote diversity and inclusion, and cultivate an engaging environment that fosters a high-performing team with a culture of integrity, accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Internal Controls and Risk Management
Lead the organization to adhere to and follow regulatory policy, procedure, and standards as described by the business and required by applicable laws, regulations, policies and guidelines. Is a champion of enterprise risk management by overseeing the implementation of robust frameworks and internal controls to proactively identify, assess, and control financial and operational risks across all business activities.
Board and Executive Advisory
Maintain close communication with the Board and its committees to advise them on financial matters, report on the financial health of the organization, get their input on major financial decisions and strategies and ensure proper governance oversight.

What you will need:
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Risk Management or equivalent required.
10+ Experience in Financial Institution Accounting
10+ Experience in leadership
Thorough understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and internal controls; complete understanding of core banking functions.
Expert knowledge of risk monitoring including design, collection, and analysis of risk metrics and controls. Strong business finance acumen, especially in financial and/or banking services
Strong leadership, teamwork, relationship building skills, and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to influence positive outcomes.
Expert in Designing practices, processes, and developing procedures to get things done; simplifies complex processes; gets more out of fewer resources; creates systems that manage themselves.
CPA – Certified Public Accountant preferred.
CFA – Chartered Financial Analyst preferred.
