About the Client
We're recruiting a fractional CFO on behalf of a leading infrastructure client. This is an opportunity to work with an organisation developing and operating critical infrastructure assets that underpin the modern economy.
The Role
As Fractional CFO, you will provide strategic financial leadership to support the company's infrastructure development and operational activities. This is a hands-on role requiring both strategic oversight and operational expertise, with a focus on project finance, capital allocation, and value creation across the portfolio.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Strategy & Capital Management
- Develop and execute financial strategy aligned with infrastructure development and operational goals
- Lead capital raising activities and maintain relationships with debt and equity providers
- Optimise capital structure and manage liquidity across development and operational phases
- Provide Board-level financial reporting and strategic recommendations
Project Finance & Investment
- Structure and negotiate project finance facilities for infrastructure developments
- Develop comprehensive financial models for new projects and acquisitions
- Lead financial due diligence on investment opportunities and partnerships
- Manage relationships with lenders, institutional investors, and financial advisors
Operational Finance
- Oversee financial operations, management accounting, and treasury functions
- Implement robust financial controls, systems, and reporting frameworks
- Manage cash flow forecasting and working capital optimisation
- Drive operational efficiency and margin improvement initiatives
Commercial & Risk Management
- Support commercial negotiations and contract structuring
- Develop pricing strategies and financial frameworks for infrastructure services
- Identify and manage financial risks across the portfolio
- Ensure regulatory compliance and manage relationships with regulatory bodies
Candidate Requirements
Essential Experience
- Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent)
- Proven track record in CFO or senior finance roles within infrastructure, construction, energy, or industrial sectors
- Strong experience structuring project finance and managing relationships with institutional lenders
- Demonstrated expertise in financial modeling for large-scale infrastructure projects
- Experience managing operational finance for asset-intensive businesses
- Track record of successful capital raising and stakeholder management
Skills & Attributes
- Strategic mindset with strong commercial acumen
- Hands-on approach with ability to operate at both strategic and operational levels
- Excellent stakeholder management and Board-level communication skills
- Strong understanding of infrastructure economics and asset lifecycle management
- Self-motivated and comfortable working autonomously in dynamic environments
Desirable
- Experience with infrastructure M&A and portfolio management
- Knowledge of regulatory frameworks affecting infrastructure sectors
- Background in private equity, infrastructure funds, or project development
- Network within the infrastructure investment and development community
- Experience scaling businesses through growth and consolidation phases
Rate
The day rate for this engagement is fully negotiable, aligned to the candidate’s experience and the scope of the agreed fractional commitment.
