Company Overview
As part of our client company's ongoing business expansion in the North American market, they are strengthening the management structure of their U.S. subsidiary. They are now seeking a Chief Financial Officer (CFO). This position will lead the local organization with a primary focus on accounting, while also overseeing finance and legal functions. While working closely with headquarters, the CFO will be expected to make independent judgments and drive operations as a core member of the local management team.
Key Responsibilities
Accounting
-
Oversee monthly and annual closing under US GAAP

Manage tax filing processes in collaboration with external tax advisors

Handle internal and external audits (including J-SOX) and establish/operate internal controls

Prepare and submit consolidated reporting packages to headquarters

Note: Voluntary adoption of IFRS planned from FY ending January 2027

Promote accounting and tax compliance in coordination with HQ and local experts
Finance
-
Create and update cash flow forecasts, including capital investment planning

Improve cash efficiency through introduction and operation of a Cash Management System (CMS)

Arrange debt financing from local financial institutions

Implement and strengthen credit risk management in the North American market

Lead financial management in collaboration with HQ and local experts
Legal
-
Review, draft, and negotiate contracts (e.g., lease agreements, service agreements, sales contracts)

Manage litigation and disputes in coordination with external legal counsel

Ensure compliance with North American laws and regulations, including labor and data protection

Establish and operate a legal framework that enhances internal controls and governance

Drive legal initiatives in collaboration with HQ and local law firms/experts
Qualifications
Required:
-
Extensive expertise and practical experience in accounting, including US GAAP

Solid knowledge and hands-on experience in finance and legal, with the ability to make autonomous decisions and coordinate with internal and external experts

Proven leadership experience in managing teams and delivering results

Ability to drive initiatives independently while fostering dialogue, collaboration, and respect for others

Japanese bilingual
Preferred:
-
CPA (Certified Public Accountant) qualification in the United States
Additional Information

This position will report to the CFO and accounting/finance departments at Japan HQ, as well as the CEO of the U.S. subsidiary, overseeing all aspects of accounting, tax, audit, and treasury under US GAAP.

Corporate Planning, FP&A, and Analytics functions report to the CFO.
