Position Overview
HeavyAero is seeking a strategic and hands-on Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to lead the financial, administrative, and risk management functions of the organization. Reporting directly to the Managing Director and collaborating closely with the Senior Management Team, the CFO will play a key leadership role in driving HeavyAero’s growth, profitability, and long-term sustainability.
As a CPA-designated executive, the ideal candidate will blend deep technical financial expertise with strong business acumen and operational understanding of an MRO (Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul) environment. This role demands a proactive leader who can operate at both strategic and tactical levels — shaping financial strategy, optimizing performance, and strengthening governance frameworks as HeavyAero scales its national and international operations.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Corporate Governance
- Serve as a key member of the senior leadership team, providing direction on business strategy, growth opportunities, and risk mitigation.
- Partner with the Managing Director and Board to define and execute long-term corporate and financial strategy.
- Provide financial insight to support strategic initiatives including expansion, capital projects, and potential investment or partnership opportunities.
- Lead the preparation of materials for the Board of Directors and Finance Committees, ensuring transparency, data integrity, and strategic alignment.
- Establish and maintain robust governance, internal controls, and financial policies consistent with the organization’s growth stage and regulatory obligations.
Financial Management & Operational Excellence
- Oversee all aspects of corporate finance, accounting, budgeting, forecasting, treasury, and audit.
- Ensure compliance with ASPE/IFRS, tax regulations, and applicable federal and provincial laws.
- Lead financial planning and analysis (FP&A) to provide actionable insights that drive decision-making and operational efficiency.
- Optimize capital structure, cash flow management, and working capital to support sustainable growth.
- Modernize financial systems, processes, and reporting tools to enhance scalability and accuracy across divisions (line maintenance, heavy maintenance, and personnel services).
Risk, Compliance & External Relations
- Identify and manage enterprise and financial risks in coordination with the Managing Director and Board.
- Lead all external financial relationships including banks, investors, insurance providers, and auditors.
- Represent the company in financial negotiations and strategic partnerships with professionalism and credibility.
- Ensure readiness for potential financing rounds, investment reviews, or due diligence processes.
Leadership & People Development
- Lead and mentor the finance and accounting team, fostering a culture of accountability, learning, and performance excellence.
- Support the development of future leaders within the finance function, including CPA mentorship.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Operations, Supply Chain, and HR to align financial priorities with business needs.
- Champion integrity, transparency, and collaboration as core leadership values.
Qualifications
- Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation – required
- Minimum 10 years of progressive leadership experience in finance, accounting, or corporate strategy, ideally within aviation, manufacturing, or a complex operational sector.
- Proven experience in executive financial management, board reporting, and strategic planning.
- Strong understanding of ASPE/IFRS, corporate governance, and compliance frameworks.
- Experience in capital planning, budgeting, and funding strategies (e.g., debt, equity, or investor relations).
- Exceptional analytical, communication, and leadership skills, with the ability to influence and drive change across diverse teams.
- Proficiency with financial and ERP systems (QuickBooks Online, Power BI, or similar platforms).
- Demonstrated integrity, sound judgment, and the ability to balance strategic foresight with operational pragmatism.
Compensation & Benefits
