Our client is seeking a Chief Financial Officer
Location: Calgary, Alberta
Role Overview
The CFO leads financial strategy and governance while driving performance, capital allocation, and growth. This role is both strategic and operational, responsible for ensuring strong financial foundations while partnering with leadership to drive long-term business performance.
This position operates within the private medical field, supporting a complex, regulated, and multi-entity environment. In addition to core financial leadership, this position plays a key role in joint ventures, mergers, acquisitions, and strategic partnerships, overseeing all financial aspects from evaluation through integration.
This role exists in a fast-paced, high-growth environment and requires a leader who can operate with urgency, adapt quickly, and make sound decisions while maintaining accuracy and control.
Strategic & Leadership Responsibilities
- Act as a trusted financial partner to the executive team, providing timely insights to support strategic decision-making
- Lead financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting processes in a dynamic environment
- Translate financial data into clear, actionable insights for non-financial stakeholders
- Support long-term strategic initiatives, including growth planning, capital investments, and scenario modeling
- Prepare financial analysis and materials for leadership, board, and investors
Joint Ventures, Mergers & Strategic Transactions
- Lead and support all financial aspects of joint ventures, mergers, acquisitions, and strategic partnerships
- Conduct financial due diligence, including regulatory considerations, risks, and synergies under tight timelines
- Build and evaluate financial models for transactions and partnerships
- Support negotiation of financial terms and governance structures
- Oversee financial integration planning and post-transaction performance tracking
Financial Operations & Control and Process Management
- Oversee finance and accounting operations
- Maintain strong internal controls while enabling operational agility
- Oversee tax planning, audits, and regulatory compliance
- Build scalable processes and systems to support growth
- Drive continuous improvement across financial operations
Required Qualifications
- CPA or equivalent accounting designation strongly preferred
- Minimum 12 years of progressive experience in finance and accounting
- Strong accounting, reporting, and compliance background
- Experience with joint ventures, mergers, or acquisitions
- Prior experience in medical or healthcare industry, an asset
