A well-established nonprofit community mental health organization in Northern New Jersey is seeking an experienced Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to oversee all financial operations and ensure fiscal integrity across multiple funding streams.
The ideal candidate will be a mission-driven financial leader with deep knowledge of Medicaid, Medicare, and third-party payers, as well as local, state, and federal grant funding and nonprofit compliance requirements. This position reports directly to the President & CEO and serves as a key member of the Executive Leadership Team.
Responsibilities:
- Direct all fiscal operations including accounting, budgeting, cash flow, and financial reporting.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and federal/state funding requirements.
- Oversee Medicaid/Medicare billing and reimbursement functions.
- Manage HUD, DMHAS, County, and other government grants and contracts.
- Lead audit preparation and coordinate with external auditors.
- Provide financial analysis and guidance to senior leadership and the Board of Directors.
- Supervise and develop finance department staff.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; CPA or MBA preferred.
- Minimum 5–10 years of progressive financial leadership, ideally in nonprofit or healthcare settings.
- Strong understanding of governmental funding and cost reporting.
- Excellent communication, analytical, and leadership skills.

- Competitive salary begins at 130k and is based upon experience
