Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and strategic Operations Manager to lead our team and drive business growth. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills and a comprehensive understanding of sales, marketing, and customer service within a technology-driven environment. This role offers an exciting opportunity to oversee operational functions, develop new business opportunities, and enhance client relationships to ensure the company's continued success.
Duties and Responsibilities
Marketing & Brand Presence
- Manage the update of the company’s Facebook page and other social media channels.
- Support Google business listings and maintain an updated and accurate online presence.
- Contribute to consistent branding initiatives across digital and print materials.
- Assist with promotional activities to raise awareness of the company and its products.
Customer Service & Sales Coordination
- Take and process customer orders efficiently and accurately.
- Create and send invoices; generate and distribute account statements.
- Act as primary contact for customer inquiries, particularly during peak and fulfillment periods.
- Ensure professional, timely, and responsive communication with all customers.
- Coordinate closely with sales, production, and delivery teams to ensure accurate and timely order fulfillment.
Human Resources
- Introduce and train employees on the company handbook, policies, and procedures.
- Supervise, mentor, and support direct reports, fostering a positive workplace culture.
- Conduct performance conversations, provide constructive feedback, and ensure alignment with company values and goals.
- Integrate Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) and food safety requirements into onboarding and ongoing training.
Occupational Health & Safety and Compliance
- Monitor compliance with all Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) and Farm Safety Policy standards.
- Conduct and document regular workplace and hazard assessments.
- Deliver safety training, toolbox talks, and emergency preparedness sessions.
- Maintain records of incidents, training activities, and safety communications.
- Promote a farm-wide culture of safety, accountability, and care.
IT & Cybersecurity
- Establish and maintain IT and cybersecurity protocols to meet minimum standards required by funders (e.g., IRAP).
- Set up and manage antivirus protection across all computers.
- Configure and oversee separate Wi-Fi networks for administration, greenhouse equipment, employees, and contractors to ensure security and reliability.
- Monitor IT systems and implement improvements to safeguard data and operations.
Production
- Support farm tasks including seeding, irrigation, crop care, harvesting, post-harvest handling, processing and packaging, as needed.
- Farm tasks as needed such as snow removal, property maintenance.
Education, Skills, and Experience
- Experience in sales and marketing an asset
- Post-secondary education in sales, marketing, administration
- Demonstrated initiative, maturity, and a proactive, solutions-oriented mindset
- Familiarity with order systems such as QuickBooks Online, and experience processing orders, invoices, and payments
- Comfortable with spreadsheets and digital tools
- Excellent recordkeeping, organization, and attention to detail
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including professionalism in customer and team interactions
- Ability to interpret and implement standards related to food safety, traceability, and occupational health and safety
- Experience working with diverse teams, including seasonal or multilingual staff
- Comfortable representing the farm with partners, customers, or regulators when needed
Working Conditions
- On-site office work and in greenhouse, field, and pack house environments as needed
- Exposure to all weather conditions and exposure to pests
- Fast-paced environment with shifting priorities during harvest and sales cycles
- Regular computer and administrative work as part of daily responsibilities
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift 40–50 lbs regularly
- Frequent bending, standing, kneeling, and lifting
- Comfortable working outdoors and in high-activity settings.

Pay: $48,000.00 per year
