About the Role
Reporting directly to the CEO and serving as a key member of the executive leadership team, the CFO will play a pivotal role in shaping and strengthening the future of our firm. This is a highly engaged, roll-up the sleeves position where your operational instincts, strategic thinking, and leadership presence will directly influence the health and trajectory of the business.
You will join a small, dedicated team where agility, collaboration, and accountability matter. Success here is about optimizing, stabilizing, maturing, and elevating how the business operates today, while setting us up for opportunities tomorrow. We are looking for someone who thrives in a dynamic, fast paced, hands-on environment and who can balance tactical execution with long-term strategy.
You bring proven success in investment management or broker-dealer environments, strong judgement, an ability to simplify complexity, and a track record of building high-functioning teams. You’ll oversee and/or partner with a multidisciplinary group spanning finance, investment operations, compliance, and legal (5–7 FTEs), plus external partners.
Above all, you lead with integrity, clarity, and steadiness—and you develop people in a way that leaves a lasting impact.
Responsibilities
Operational & Financial Leadership
- Oversee all core functions across finance, compliance/risk, and legal, ensuring excellence, efficiency, and alignment with business needs.
- Provide sound commercial judgment to guide executive decision-making, presenting trade-offs, risks, and strategic opportunities with clarity.
- Participate as a member of the Investment Committee, who review all investments through to decision.
- Strengthen and maintain financial governance and controls framework.
- Establish, prioritize, and monitor KPIs, intervening proactively to ensure performance and accountability.
- Model operational excellence and set a high bar across all finance/legal/compliance related functions.
Strategic Stewardship
- Work closely with the CEO and Board (including subcommittees) on reporting, risk assessments, and business planning.
- Serve as a thought partner in evaluating opportunities, building options/ forecasts, and anticipating challenges.
- Enhance systems, tools, and processes to increase scalability, transparency, and efficiency across the organization.
Fund & Investment Oversight
- Oversee the end-to-end SPV & Fund processes from inception to close and distribution as the executive responsible.
- Lead the fund accounting team through NAV calculations, year-end financials, audits, and investor reporting.
- Review and approve capital calls, distributions, management fee calculations, and closes.
- Oversee variance analysis, P&L reviews, forecasting, and financial modeling with precision and accuracy.
- Continuously refine processes to improve speed, quality, and reliability.
Risk Management
- Ensure all activities meet regulatory, tax, and audit requirements in both Canada and the US.
- Conduct due diligence on potential partners, issuers, and counterparties.
- Oversee timely preparation and filing of all local, state, and federal tax returns and filings.
- Serve as the primary contact for external legal, banking, and financing relationships.
People Leadership
- Mentor, coach, and elevate a combined Finance, Legal & Compliance team, fostering a culture of accountability, learning, and collaboration.
- Set clear expectations, goals, KPI’s; provide constructive feedback and support professional development.
- Build a strong, cohesive team dynamic with the structure and systems needed to succeed, including working cross-functionally with other team members.
Who You Are
- A proven CFO or senior leader with experience inside fast-paced firms in investment banking/management, private equity, M&A, broker-dealers.
- Deep cross-border experience (US & Canada) with a strong grasp of regulatory considerations.
- A steady, adaptable leader with experience operating in evolving or high-change environments.
- A hands-on operator—comfortable diving into details without losing sight of the strategic horizon.
- Experience in raising capital and supporting organizational optimization.

Education & Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Legal, or related field; CFA is desirable.
- Advanced financial modeling and data analysis skills.
- Strong organizational, time-management, and prioritization capabilities.
- Ability to travel between the US and Canada for meetings as required.
- Successful completion of a criminal record check and credit check.
- Must be eligible to work in Canada.
Salary & Benefits
- Actual salaries may vary based on factors, such as skill, experience, location, and qualifications for the role.
- 2026 range is $230,000 - $275,000 CAD plus bonus plan, options, and carry.
