About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to lead and build the financial and commercial operations for a newly established entity in India. This role is a key member of the India leadership team and will play a critical role in financial governance, strategic planning, compliance, and business decision-making while working closely with international group stakeholders.
The ideal candidate is a proactive leader with strong commercial acumen, hands-on financial expertise, and the ability to establish financial processes from the ground up in a fast-paced, project-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Analysis
- Prepare and analyze monthly and annual financial statements in compliance with Indian GAAP and IFRS
- Ensure accurate and timely reporting to international group finance teams
Budgeting, Forecasting & Commercial Support
- Develop and manage annual budgets and rolling forecasts
- Support quoting, tendering, and bidding activities
- Partner with project and department heads on financial planning
Compliance & Internal Controls
- Ensure compliance with Indian statutory, tax, and regulatory requirements
- Establish and maintain strong internal control frameworks
- Coordinate with auditors, tax advisors, and legal consultants
Cash & Banking Management
- Manage cash flow, liquidity, and working capital
- Build and manage relationships with local banks
Payroll & Statutory Oversight
- Oversee payroll processing and statutory filings in compliance with Indian laws
Leadership & Stakeholder Management
- Lead, mentor, and develop the finance team
- Communicate financial insights effectively to non-finance stakeholders
- Collaborate with international group finance teams
Commercial, Contract & Insurance Management
- Review and manage commercial contracts with suppliers and subcontractors
- Oversee financial aspects of large-scale projects, including WIP and revenue recognition
- Manage insurance programs and compliance with Indian insurance requirements
Qualifications & Experience
Mandatory
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field
- 5–7+ years of progressive experience in senior finance, controlling, or CFO-level roles
- Strong knowledge of Indian GAAP, taxation, and statutory compliance
- Experience building finance processes and controls for a new entity or subsidiary
- Strong expertise in budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis
- Proficiency with ERP systems and advanced Excel skills
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
Preferred
- Chartered Accountant (CA) qualification
- Experience with IFRS and multinational group reporting
- Experience in industrial, EPC, or project-based companies
- Experience managing WIP, cost-to-completion, and project financials
- ERP implementation experience
- Strong exposure to contract and insurance management
