Our client is a respected Aboriginal corporation representing Traditional Owners in the Pilbara, with responsibility for protecting Native Title rights, cultural heritage, and supporting long-term economic development for its members.
They are seeking a commercially astute Chief Financial Officer to provide strategic financial leadership and support the organisation's next phase of growth, governance maturity, and economic development.
This role can be based in Perth with regular time spent in Karratha, or permanently based in Karratha. Flexibility will be considered for the right candidate.
The Role
Reporting to the CEO and working closely with the Board, the CFO is a key member of the executive leadership team. The role is responsible for the financial stewardship of the organisation, supporting sound decision-making, strong governance, and sustainable outcomes for its members.
This is a hands-on leadership role combining strategic oversight with operational delivery.
Location: Perth with regular travel to Karratha or based in Karratha
Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic financial leadership aligned to the organisation's purpose, values, and long-term objectives
- Lead financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management
- Oversee statutory reporting, audits, and compliance obligations
- Strengthen financial governance, controls, and risk management frameworks
- Partner with the CEO and Board on commercial decisions, investment analysis, and funding strategies
- Support negotiations and financial oversight of agreements with mining companies, government, and commercial partners
- Lead and develop the finance team and associated external providers
- Provide clear, practical financial reporting and insights to executive and Board stakeholders
About You
You are a senior finance leader who combines commercial capability with strong judgement, integrity, and cultural awareness.
You will bring:
- Proven experience as a CFO, Finance Director, or senior financial leader
- Strong governance and compliance experience, ideally within NFP, Indigenous, government-related, or complex stakeholder environments
- Experience supporting Boards and executive leadership teams
- Commercial acumen, with the ability to translate financial data into clear advice
- Strong relationship-building skills and a collaborative leadership style
- An understanding of, or willingness to learn, Indigenous governance and community-led organisations
- CPA or CA qualifications
