Role Overview:
The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) for BBVA France is responsible for the overall financial management, regulatory reporting, prudential supervision coordination, and performance management of the France branche. This role acts as a key senior leader, ensuring compliance with local and consolidated supervisory requirements while supporting business growth, profitability, and sound governance.
Reporting Lines:
This role leads the Finance teams in France Branche. The CFO France reports to the CFO UK and Continental Europe and the France Country Head.
Key Responsibilities:
- Accounting and financial / regulatory reporting.
- Liquidity, capital, and profitability management.
- Financial planning and performance management.
- Prudential supervisory relationship management.
- Cost management & procurement oversight.
- Regulatory, tax, and governance matters.
Major and Essential Job Duties:
1. Accounting & Regulatory Reporting:
- Overall responsibility for accounting and regulatory reporting for BBVA France.
- Ensure accurate and timely month-end close, including review and approval of adjustments and coordination with Front Office, Operations, and Head Office.
- Review statutory financial statements and monthly management reporting for senior management.
- Act as coordinator for internal and external audits and regulatory examinations.
- Ensure strong financial controls, reconciliations, and P&L integrity.
- Maintain and update accounting and regulatory reporting policies and procedures.
2. Financial Planning & Performance Managment:
- Coordinate with CIB Finance on forecasts, budgets, and key balance sheet and P&L developments.
- Analyze financial performance, volumes, margins, and business evolution.
- Oversee fee-sharing agreements to ensure accurate allocation across legal entities.
- Coordinate credit provisions and IFRS 9 processes with Risk and Group Finance teams.
3. Prudential Supervisory Relationship:
- Serve as the single point of contact for prudential matters with local and european regulators.
- Lead and coordinate supervisory inspections and ongoing supervisory interactions.
- Ensure timely remediation of supervisory findings and follow-up actions.
- Ensure compliance with both local and consolidated supervisory expectations (including ECB requirements).
- Coordinate with the Group Global Supervisory Relations team.
4. Cost Management & Procurement:
- Oversee cost control, expense governance, and vendor management.
- Ensure alignment with Group CIB expense and procurement policies.
- Oversee corporate cards, travel programs, and expense management systems.
- Ensure accurate and timely payment of vendor and employee expenses.
5. Liquidity, Capital and Profitability Responsabilities:
- Review liquidity, funding structure, and balance sheet evolution.
- Oversee liquidity governance and annual review of intra-group liquidity agreements.
- Monitor RWA evolution and profitability.
6. Regulatory, Tax & Governance:
- Ensure compliance with applicable financial and regulatory requirements.
- Oversee tax compliance, provisions, filings, and payments.
- Participate as a member of key governance committees and working groups.
Complexity and Risk:
This role operates in a highly complex and regulated environment. The CFO is accountable for managing significant financial, regulatory, and reputational risks.
Skills, Knowledge and Experience:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting or Finance; professional accounting qualification preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience in banking or financial services.
- Proven experience managing relationships with prudential supervisors.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and analytical skills.
- Fluency in French and English; Spanish is an advantage.
