About Fibeo
Fibeo is a new Scottish broadband provider preparing for launch in Autumn 2026 with a deliberately disciplined and governance-led approach to how broadband businesses are built and operated. While much of the industry prioritises short-term outcomes and financial engineering, Fibeo is being designed around operational resilience, scalable architecture and long-term customer value creation.
This is an early-stage business, but it is being built properly from day one. The foundations being established now are intended to support a nationally scalable broadband provider with strong governance, long-term ambition and the customer placed firmly at the centre of the business.
The Role
We are seeking a commercially rigorous Chief Financial Officer to work alongside the CEO and Board in shaping Fibeo’s financial strategy, capital planning and governance framework from pre-launch through scale.
This is a formative executive appointment. The CFO will play a central role in modelling, validating and implementing the company’s capital structure, funding strategy and long-term financial architecture, ensuring disciplined capital allocation, regulatory compliance and robust reporting aligned with Fibeo’s customer-ownership model.
The role requires structural thinking, meticulous attention to detail and confidence operating at executive and board level.
Core Responsibilities
• Work with the CEO and Board to design, model and implement Fibeo’s equity structure and funding strategy
• Develop and maintain detailed financial models covering dilution, fundraising scenarios, forecasting, runway and long-term sustainability
• Lead SEIS/EIS planning, execution and compliance (or coordinate with specialist advisers)
• Establish disciplined budgeting, cost control and capital allocation frameworks
• Prepare structured board-level financial reporting covering performance, liquidity, risk and capital position
• Oversee statutory reporting, Companies House requirements and financial governance
• Support financial oversight of any customer ownership trust structure in conjunction with legal advisers
• Manage relationships with accountants, tax advisers, corporate finance advisers and investors
• Embed strong internal controls and reporting standards from inception
This role is strategic and structural rather than transactional.
Who We Are Looking For
• Previous senior finance leadership experience within a telecommunications, ISP or fibre environment (essential)
• Strong working knowledge of SEIS/EIS, ideally with direct execution experience
• Ideally familiarity with trust structures or alternative ownership models
• Demonstrable ability to build complex financial models from first principles
• Meticulous attention to detail with a strong governance mindset
• Experience supporting boards with structured financial reporting
• Commercially disciplined and comfortable operating at executive level
• Comfortable operating in an early-stage, equity-led environment prior to full cash remuneration
Important: This role requires prior telecommunications or ISP sector experience at senior finance level. Applications that do not clearly demonstrate relevant sector experience will not be reviewed.
The Package
• Meaningful founding-stage equity participation from the outset
• Executive-level influence over long-term financial direction
• Structured transition to cash remuneration as the business scales
• The opportunity to build a nationally scalable Scottish ISP from first principles under an industry-first ownership model
Please note: This is not a traditional salaried CFO role at inception. It is intended for a senior and established telecommunications finance leader motivated by ownership, accountability and long-term value creation.
We have ambitious plans for market entry and scale-up. We will therefore be prioritising candidates who can start by 14 April 2026. Interviews will take place w/c 23 March 2026 and will involve an initial informal 30-minute conversation with the Chief Executive. We don’t like unnecessary bureaucracy, so shortlisted applicants will then proceed to formal interview with our Chairman as next and final stage.
