Chief Financial Officer (CFO)

About the Opportunity
We are seeking a hands-on Chief Financial Officer to lead the full finance function within a small to mid-sized manufacturing organization preparing for its next phase of growth.
This role requires a finance leader who has operated end-to-end as the top financial executive in a manufacturing environment. The organization does not have the capacity for someone to grow into the role over time. The ideal candidate has already owned the complete financial function, including accounting operations, cost accounting, cash flow management, forecasting, banking relationships, and executive-level reporting.
This is a lean environment. The CFO must be comfortable operating without layers of financial staff while remaining engaged in both strategic planning and day-to-day execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and own the entire accounting and finance function
- Oversee financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and internal controls
- Manage cash flow, working capital, capital planning, and banking relationships
- Ensure accurate and timely month-end and year-end close processes
- Own manufacturing cost accounting, including labor, materials, overhead allocation, and margin analysis in a highly customizable product environment
- Prepare and present financial reporting to ownership, lenders, and other stakeholders
- Provide financial modeling and analysis to support operational and growth initiatives
- Partner cross-functionally with Operations, Engineering, Sales, and Supply Chain
- Strengthen financial systems, processes, and reporting infrastructure
- Leverage ERP and technology to improve financial visibility and operational efficiency
- Build and develop a capable finance team while remaining hands-on in execution
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required, MBA preferred w/ CPA or CMA is a plus
- Minimum of 8 to 10 years of accounting experience in manufacturing
- Prior experience serving as the top financial leader in a small to mid-sized manufacturing organization w/ background in metals or electronics manufacturing preferred
- Experience in highly customizable or engineered-to-order environments strongly preferred
- Demonstrated ability to operate in lean environments without extensive staff support
- Strong understanding of both accounting fundamentals and corporate finance
- Experience in private equity-backed manufacturing environments is a plus
