Role Overview
The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) will be responsible for driving the financial strategy, governance, compliance, and fiscal sustainability of the organization. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in construction finance, project accounting, cost management, regulatory compliance, and corporate structuring.
This role requires a Chartered Accountant with strong knowledge of Company Law (CS exposure) and Cost Accounting, capable of managing complex infrastructure projects, funding structures, and government regulations.
Key Responsibilities
1. Financial Strategy & Leadership
- Develop and implement long-term financial strategy aligned with business expansion plans.
- Advise the Board and MD on capital structure, funding, and risk management.
- Lead financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and performance analysis.
- Drive profitability and sustainable growth.
2. Construction & Project Finance Management
- Oversee project-wise budgeting and financial monitoring.
- Ensure accurate revenue recognition (Percentage Completion Method).
- Monitor WIP, project cash flows, and cost overruns.
- Implement cost control mechanisms across materials, labor, subcontracting, and overheads.
- Evaluate financial viability of new projects and tenders.
3. Compliance & Corporate Governance
- Ensure compliance with Companies Act, GST, Income Tax, and other statutory regulations.
- Oversee statutory audits, internal audits, and tax assessments.
- Ensure adherence to SEBI/RBI norms (if applicable).
- Strengthen internal control systems and financial policies.
4. Treasury & Fund Management
- Manage banking relationships, working capital, and project financing.
- Negotiate loans, credit facilities, and structured finance solutions.
- Optimize interest costs and maintain liquidity health.
- Monitor lender covenants and debt servicing obligations.
5. Cost Accounting & Financial Controls
- Establish robust cost accounting systems.
- Conduct variance analysis and margin improvement strategies.
- Monitor procurement contracts from financial risk perspective.
- Implement ERP-based financial control systems.
6. Risk Management
- Identify financial and operational risks.
- Develop mitigation frameworks for project risks.
- Ensure insurance and contractual risk coverage.
7. Stakeholder & Board Management
- Present financial reports to Board of Directors.
- Liaise with auditors, bankers, investors, and government authorities.
- Support M&A, JV partnerships, and corporate restructuring initiatives.
8. Team Leadership
- Lead Finance, Accounts, Taxation, and Compliance teams.
- Develop strong second-line leadership.
- Drive performance accountability within finance function.
Qualifications
- CA (Chartered Accountant) / CS (Company Secretary)
- Cost Accounting – Strongly Preferred
- 15–20+ years of experience in construction / infrastructure industry.
- Experience handling large-scale project finance and multi-site operations.
