Company: Enterprise software company serving State Housing Finance Agencies (HFAs) and banks underwriting LIHTC investments
Role Overview
We are an established enterprise software provider to the affordable housing/LIHTC sector. As we expand into a more transactional, payments‑enabled product, we seek a CFO who combines GAAP/ASC 606 expertise with operational leadership. This role requires a hands‑on financial executive who can elevate accounting rigor, strengthen controls, modernize systems, and partner closely with the CEO and leadership team to guide profitable growth.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Leadership & Strategy
- Serve as a strategic partner to the CEO, translating company goals into financial plans, KPIs, and performance dashboards.
- Lead budgeting, forecasting, scenario modeling, and board reporting.
- Manage cash planning and covenant reporting while building a lean, scalable finance organization.
Accounting, Controls & Compliance (GAAP / ASC 606)
- Own the monthly close, GL accuracy, and audit/tax engagements.
- Lead ASC 606 revenue recognition across enterprise software, SaaS, and usage‑based/transactional models, including performance obligations, SSP allocation, contract modifications, and required disclosures.
- Implement policies and systems that support automated revenue recognition and billing.
Operational Finance & Payments
- Improve order‑to‑cash and procure‑to‑pay processes; strengthen AP/AR, collections, and DSO performance.
- Evaluate and implement payment infrastructure (gateways, reconciliation, settlement, fraud/risk controls) to support a high‑volume transactional product.
- Work with Product and Engineering to ensure metering, billing events, revenue schedules, and reconciliations are audit‑ready and scalable.
Pricing, Unit Economics & Growth Support
- Lead pricing and packaging initiatives for the new transactional offering, including take‑rate and margin analysis.
- Support enterprise RFPs and structure customer contracts that align with ASC 606 and cash objectives.
Market & Stakeholder Alignment
- Understand the needs and operational cycles of HFAs, banks, and LIHTC stakeholders.
- Stay current on relevant market and policy developments affecting customer funding, underwriting, and compliance cycles.
What “Hands‑On” Means in This Role
- Personally reviews revenue schedules, complex contracts, and accounting judgments.
- Actively participates in billing, collections, close processes, and control design.
- Drives systems implementation for ERP, billing/revenue automation, and financial reporting.
Qualifications
- 12+ years of progressive experience in software/SaaS finance, including leadership roles.
- Deep expertise in GAAP and ASC 606 for subscriptions, licenses, services, and usage‑based revenue.
- Experience building processes, controls, and systems in small‑team environments.
- Exposure to payments and transaction processing preferred.
- Strong cross‑functional communication and executive presence.
- CPA and/or MBA preferred.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $150,000.00 - $245,000.00 per year
