Role Overview
We are seeking a strategic and hands-on
Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to lead ChainUp’s global finance function. This role will drive financial strategy, governance, planning, reporting, compliance, and risk management across multi-entity, multi-currency operations in a fast-moving digital asset environment. The CFO will partner closely with the CEO, executive leadership, and business heads to scale the organization sustainably.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Business Partnering
- Lead the company’s financial strategy, capital planning, and long-term financial roadmap aligned with business growth.
- Partner with CEO/executives on pricing, profitability, product margin, budgeting, and investment decisions.
- Provide insights on business performance, unit economics, revenue mix, and cost efficiency.
Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A)
- Own annual budgeting, forecasting, cashflow planning, and management reporting.
- Build clear KPIs and dashboards for leadership decision-making across products, regions, and entities.
- Conduct scenario planning (market cycles, revenue volatility, expansion planning, headcount plans).
Accounting, Reporting & Controls
- Oversee month-end/year-end closing and ensure timely and accurate financial statements.
- Strengthen internal controls, approval workflows, and finance policies for scalable operations.
- Manage multi-currency accounting, intercompany transactions, revenue recognition, and cost allocation.
Treasury, Cash Management & Risk
- Manage cashflow, liquidity, banking relationships, payment operations, and treasury strategy.
- Establish risk management processes including fraud prevention, operational risk, and financial governance.
- Support digital-asset-related financial processes where applicable (e.g., wallet flows, settlement processes, reconciliations) with strong controls.
Compliance, Audit, Tax & Corporate Governance
- Lead external audits, tax filings (including GST where relevant), and regulatory reporting as required.
- Coordinate with legal/compliance teams on corporate governance and finance-related regulatory obligations.
- Ensure finance practices meet cross-border entity compliance requirements and reporting standards.
Team Leadership
- Lead and develop the finance team across accounting, FP&A, tax, treasury, and operations.
Set clear performance standards, build strong finance processes, and implement best practices.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA/CA/ACCA strongly preferred.
- 5+ years of progressive finance experience, including leadership experience (CFO/Finance Director/Head of Finance).
- Strong track record in multi-entity, multi-country, multi-currency finance operations.
- Experience in technology, fintech, payments, trading, digital assets, blockchain, or regulated financial environments is highly advantageous.
- Strong knowledge of financial controls, audit, tax, compliance, and corporate governance.
- Proven ability to work strategically while remaining hands-on in execution.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
