Chief Financial Officer
Our Client has an opening for a Chief Financial Officer. The Chief Financial Officer is responsible for directing the Company’s financial activities as well as supervision of general accounting practices, budgeting, accounts payable, payroll, and the corporate credit function. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker and skilled at establishing functional objectives in line with organizational objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Actively work with their President to create and execute organizational strategy
- Leads the accounting and finance function with a focus on developing functional excellence within the organization, process and internal control improvements, regular communications, and team development
- Possess a high sense of urgency and prioritization skillset. Ability to streamline processes while improving quality, timeliness, and accuracy of reporting
- Develops the Company’s internal financial reporting system to inform management of the Company’s financial position and performance against prior periods and budget
- Directs the development of budget plans at the branch, corporate, and Watsco reporting levels
- Oversees internal control environment to ensure the safeguarding of Company assets
- Assesses organization prospects by studying economic trends and revenue opportunities and projects acquisition and expansion opportunities
- Analyzes organizational operations to identify opportunities for improvement, cost reduction, and systems enhancement
- Establishes financial and operational strategies by evaluating trends and defining measurements to determine productivity, quality, and customer-service strategies
- Manages the Company’s relationship with outside parties including auditors, vendors, and other members of the financial community
- Responsible for increasing departmental productivity by setting goals that challenge the team to raise their standards and measuring achievement of those goals
- Responsible for working with Corporate HR team to create forward looking policies around technology adoption, PTO, work from home, and other company wide policies
- Direct communication with accounting and finance team at public parent company
- Some travel required
Qualifications
- BS/BA in accounting or finance
- CPA is preferred
- At least 10 years of a combination of public accounting/management experience at a large corporation
- Experience in leading and managing a finance team
- Must be an outstanding communicator both written and oral
- Must have technical accounting expertise and be able to research and direct the implementation of new accounting policies and procedures consistent with GAAP and Sarbanes-Oxley reporting requirements
- Must have a working knowledge of big data systems
- Must possess excellent analytical skills
