About the Role
We are looking for a detail-oriented and high-ownership individual to join us as a Finance & Business Operations Associate. This role is critical at a time when the organization is going through a transition phase, with increased focus on financial discipline, audit readiness, and operational efficiency.
The person in this role will work closely with the core team to bring structure to currently unorganized processes, ensure closure of pending financial and operational tasks, and build systems for smoother execution going forward.
Key Responsibilities
1. Finance & Compliance (High Priority)
- Reconcile and clean up financial records to ensure books are accurate and complete
- Manage end-to-end expense tracking, vendor payments, and reimbursements
- Handle compliance-related activities including TDS filings and documentation
- Coordinate with Chartered Accountants and auditors for audit preparation
- Ensure monthly financial hygiene and timely closure of accounts
2. Business Operations
- Bring structure to day-to-day operations and improve process efficiency
- Follow up with internal teams for pending inputs and documentation
- Track key deliverables and ensure timely closure
- Create and maintain trackers/dashboards for invoices, payments, and metrics
3. Strategic & Founder’s Office Support
- Assist in preparing reports, MIS, and summaries for leadership review
- Support investor communication by organizing financial data
- Contribute to fundraising readiness with financial documents
- Help leadership in decision-making through data insights
4. Cash Flow & Treasury Management
- Maintain daily/weekly cash flow tracking and forecasting
- Ensure sufficient runway visibility (burn vs cash balance)
- Optimize payment cycles (vendor vs receivables) to manage liquidity
- Monitor bank balances across accounts and manage fund allocation
5. Financial Systems & Process Building
- Set up scalable finance processes (invoicing, approvals, reimbursements)
- Implement internal controls to prevent leakages or errors
- Improve documentation and audit trails for all transactions
- Evaluate and implement finance tools/software if needed
6. Taxation & Regulatory Awareness
- Working knowledge of GST filings, input credits, and reconciliations
- Understanding of TDS applicability across different payments
- Ensure compliance with statutory deadlines and avoid penalties
- Coordinate for annual filings, ROC compliance, etc.
7. Investor & Fundraising Support (Advanced)
- Prepare investor-ready financial reports and dashboards
- Assist in building financial models for fundraising
- Maintain data room (financials, compliance, contracts, MIS)
- Track key metrics expected by investors
8. Vendor & Cost Management
- Negotiate payment terms and optimize vendor contracts
- Maintain vendor database with clear payment cycles
- Identify cost-saving opportunities across tools, services, and ops
- Ensure no duplicate or unnecessary expenses
