PEPL has been engaged to place a Business Systems Integration Specialist for a well-established manufacturing company.
The Business Systems Integration Specialist is responsible for supporting, developing, optimizing, and maintaining business system integrations, applications, automations, and data workflows across enterprise platforms. This role works closely with IT, Finance, Operations, Quality, Sales, and other business teams to improve system performance, reduce manual work, strengthen data accuracy, and support scalable business processes. This position requires strong technical capability, problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and a service-oriented approach. The role is expected to provide responsive support to internal customers, maintain a positive and collaborative attitude, and help business teams use systems more effectively. The position supports continuous improvement, digital transformation, system reliability, data integrity, and operational efficiency across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
Process Optimization and Productivity
• Analyze business system workflows, integrations, and data processes to identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce manual effort, enhance data accuracy, and support business productivity.
• Design, build, optimize, and support system integrations from concept through deployment, testing, validation, and ongoing maintenance.
• Streamline cross-platform data flow between ERP, CRM, QMS, HRIS, and other enterprise systems to improve visibility, accuracy, and operational performance.
• Develop and implement best practices, standards, and scalable solutions to enhance system performance, reliability, usability, and long-term supportability.
• Identify repetitive manual processes and recommend automation or system improvements to reduce errors and improve workflow efficiency.
Systems Integration and Application Development
• Serve as a subject matter expert for system integrations across ERP, CRM, QMS, HRIS, and other enterprise platforms.
• Design, develop, test, and maintain system-to-system integrations, including API-based integrations, REST APIs, or similar technologies, to enable secure and reliable data exchange.
• Develop custom applications, scripts, reports, workflows, and automations to support business needs and reduce manual processes.
• Leverage low-code/no-code tools, integration platforms, middleware, or iPaaS solutions to accelerate solution delivery where appropriate.
• Perform data mapping, transformation, validation, and monitoring across multiple systems to ensure accuracy, consistency, and completeness.
• Maintain detailed integration documentation, including data mappings, workflows, business rules, dependencies, technical requirements, system dependencies, and support procedures.
• Ensure integrations are designed with appropriate controls, error handling, monitoring, scalability, and long-term maintainability.
Quality and Continuous Improvement
• Monitor integration performance, data accuracy, and system reliability; investigate and resolve system errors, data discrepancies, synchronization issues, and workflow failures.
• Conduct root cause analysis on integration failures, data issues, or recurring system problems and implement sustainable corrective actions.
• Partner with IT, Quality, Finance, Operations, Sales, and other business teams to improve data integrity, system reliability, and process performance.
• Ensure integrations and system processes align with internal standards, quality requirements, audit expectations, and regulatory requirements.
• Contribute to continuous improvement efforts using structured problem-solving, process improvement methodologies, and data-driven analysis.
Technical Support and Internal Customer Service
• Provide timely and professional technical troubleshooting and support for system integrations, applications, automation tools, reports, and related workflows.
• Support end users and business teams by resolving system issues, improving usability, answering questions, and helping users understand system capabilities.
• Maintain a positive, patient, and customer-service-oriented approach when supporting employees, departments, and cross-functional teams.
• Communicate clearly with users regarding issue status, expected resolution timing, system limitations, workarounds, and process improvements.
• Monitor integrations and system processes in real time to identify risks, failures, or performance concerns and take corrective action.
• Assist in training users on system capabilities, enhancements, new processes, and best practices.
• Escalate issues appropriately when additional IT, vendor, or leadership support is required.
Project and KPI Support
• Participate in cross-functional projects focused on system improvements, automation, integration development, reporting, and digital transformation initiatives.
• Support project planning, requirements gathering, testing, deployment, user acceptance, documentation, and post-implementation support.
• Track and support key system performance metrics, including uptime, data accuracy, integration reliability, issue resolution, and system performance.
• Provide status updates on assigned projects, open issues, risks, timelines, and completed improvements.
• Support the development of dashboards, reports, and tracking tools that improve visibility to system performance and business processes.
Data Management and Documentation
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation for integrations, applications, automations, workflows, data mappings, data flows, system dependencies, and support processes.
• Ensure data integrity through proper mapping, transformation, validation, testing, monitoring, and issue resolution processes.
• Support audits and internal reviews by ensuring documentation is complete, accurate, accessible, and aligned with company standards.
• Maintain accurate records of system changes, enhancements, testing results, approvals, and user communications.
• Support data cleanup, standardization, and process improvement efforts as needed.
Cross-Functional and Operational Support
• Partner with Finance, Operations, Quality, Sales, IT, HR, Supply Chain, and other departments to understand business needs and deliver practical technical solutions.
• Gather business requirements from stakeholders and translate them into scalable integrations, applications, automations, reports, and workflow solutions.
• Support ongoing system enhancements to align with evolving business and operational needs.
• Build strong working relationships across departments and act as a reliable support partner to the business.
• Maintain a collaborative, solution-oriented, and professional approach when working through system issues, competing priorities, or process challenges.
Safety, Compliance, and Governance
• Ensure system integrations, applications, automations, and data processes meet company security, compliance, governance, and internal control standards.
• Support adherence to data privacy, cybersecurity, access control, audit, and system change management requirements.
• Participate in compliance initiatives, system audits, testing, and documentation reviews as needed.
• Identify and communicate system risks, data concerns, or control gaps to the appropriate stakeholders.
Qualifications and Experience Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Business Information Technology, Data Analytics, Engineering, or a related field required.
• 3+ years of experience supporting, integrating, or administering enterprise business systems, such as ERP, CRM, QMS, HRIS, or similar platforms.
• Demonstrated experience designing, building, and maintaining system-to-system integrations, including REST APIs or similar integration methods.
• Hands-on experience with data mapping, transformation, and validation across multiple systems to ensure accuracy and consistency.
• Experience developing automations, scripts, reports, workflows, or applications to streamline business processes and improve efficiency.
• Proven ability to troubleshoot integration issues, resolve data discrepancies, and address system performance concerns across platforms.
• Experience partnering with business stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into scalable technical solutions.
• Strong documentation skills, including the ability to clearly document integrations, data flows, system dependencies, workflows, and business processes.
• Experience with middleware, iPaaS tools, low-code/no-code platforms, SQL, scripting languages, reporting tools, or similar technologies preferred.
• Experience working with cross-functional teams such as IT, Finance, Operations, Quality, Sales, HR, or Supply Chain preferred.
• Strong understanding of data integrity, system documentation, testing, validation, change management, and internal controls preferred.
