Head of Business Operations – Public Sector Regulator (Contract)
Location: London (hybrid, 2 days onsite)

We are partnering with a UK-wide independent regulator to appoint an experienced Head of Business Operations on an initial 6-month contract. This is a senior leadership role within a high-profile, fast-paced and politically sensitive environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the strategic and operational delivery of core regulatory functions, including the registration and oversight of regulated entities
- Oversee the receipt, publication and assurance of statutory financial submissions, ensuring compliance with relevant frameworks
- Make evidence-based, risk-informed decisions on complex regulatory matters
- Own and manage quality management systems and regulated data, ensuring best practice in governance and information handling
- Contribute to wider organisational leadership, working closely with other senior stakeholders on regulatory strategy and delivery
- Build and maintain senior-level relationships across government, regulated organisations and key stakeholders
- Lead, develop and inspire a high-performing operational team, driving performance and continuous improvement
Key Requirements:
- Proven experience in a senior leadership role within a regulatory, public sector or governance-focused environment
- Strong understanding of compliance, risk management and operational delivery
- Demonstrated ability to operate effectively in high-profile and sensitive settings
- Excellent stakeholder management skills, with experience engaging at senior levels
- Track record of leading teams and delivering against strategic objectives
Candidates must be eligible to undergo Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) checks.
