Robert Half has been retained by a growing private equity-backed construction company with approximately $75 million in annual revenue to identify a strategic and hands-on CFO / VP of Finance. This executive will serve as a key business partner to ownership, private equity stakeholders, and operational leadership while leading all aspects of accounting, finance, forecasting, and strategic growth initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead all accounting and finance functions across multiple business units and three locations.
- Provide financial leadership, reporting, and performance analysis to executive leadership and ownership.
- Partner with operational leaders to translate financial results into actionable business insights.
- Drive budgeting, forecasting, strategic planning, and financial decision-making.
- Manage cash flow, banking relationships, debt compliance, and working capital strategies.
- Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting processes.
- Lead construction accounting activities including percentage-of-completion (POC) accounting, job costing, project profitability analysis, and WIP reporting.
- Evaluate acquisition opportunities, support due diligence efforts, and assist with integration activities.
- Develop KPIs and reporting tools to improve visibility into branch and divisional performance.
- Strengthen processes, controls, and systems while leveraging technology and AI-driven solutions where appropriate.
- Mentor and develop the accounting team while remaining hands-on when needed.
What We're Looking For
- CFO, VP of Finance, or senior finance leadership experience within the construction industry.
- Strong understanding of construction accounting, including:
- Percentage-of-completion (POC) accounting
- Job costing
- WIP schedules
- Project forecasting
- Contract revenue recognition
- Experience supporting multiple locations, branches, or divisions.
- Proven ability to partner with operations and communicate financial results to non-financial leaders.
- Strong cash flow management and banking experience.
- Experience operating in a private equity-backed environment is highly preferred.
- Demonstrated success with strategic planning, forecasting, and growth initiatives.
- Technology-forward mindset with interest in leveraging automation, AI, and modern financial systems.
- Hands-on leadership style with the willingness to dig into the details when necessary.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. CPA preferred.
