Director, Business Operations – Chief of Staff to the COO
Location: Old Bridge, NJ
Compensation: $130,000 + Bonus (All in $150,000)
Position Overview
We are seeking a highly capable operational leader to serve as the execution partner and Chief of Staff to the COO within a rapidly growing, private equity-backed organization undergoing significant expansion and operational evolution. This individual will play a critical role in driving organizational accountability, operational scalability, strategic execution, and cross-functional alignment across a fast-paced and evolving business platform.
Key ResponsibilitiesExecutive & Operational Leadership
- Partner directly with the COO to drive execution across strategic initiatives and organizational priorities
- Serve as a central operational leader responsible for maintaining momentum, accountability, and visibility across high-priority initiatives
- Create leverage for executive leadership by independently managing initiatives, problem-solving, and driving execution forward
Cross-Functional Execution & Accountability
- Drive alignment and accountability across multiple business functions and departments
- Lead operational cadence including leadership meetings, KPI reviews, accountability tracking, and execution follow-through
- Coordinate cross-functional teams to ensure projects are executed on time and aligned with company objectives
- Improve organizational execution velocity and reduce operational bottlenecks across the business
Acquisition Integration & Growth Initiatives
- Lead integration efforts related to acquisitions, new business units, and platform expansion initiatives
- Support operational scaling efforts during periods of rapid growth and organizational change
- Assist with restructuring initiatives and organizational optimization efforts
Strategic Operations & Reporting
- Develop and maintain enterprise-wide KPI dashboards and operational reporting systems
- Prepare executive-level analyses, reporting, and operational insights to support leadership decision-making
- Implement accountability frameworks and operational processes to improve organizational performance
- Support rollout and adoption of new systems, workflows, technologies, and AI-driven operational initiatives
Qualifications
- 5–10+ years of experience in business operations, strategic operations, consulting, operational leadership, project management, or related environments
- Experience operating within high-growth, entrepreneurial, founder-led, or private equity-backed organizations
- Franchise industry experience strongly preferred
- Demonstrated success leading cross-functional initiatives and operational execution across multiple business functions
- Strong business acumen with the ability to connect operational decisions to broader organizational performance
- Experience developing KPI frameworks, operational reporting, and accountability systems
- Excellent organizational, analytical, communication, and executive presentation skills
- Strong project management and execution capabilities within fast-paced environments
- Interest or experience leveraging AI, automation, and operational technology to improve scalability and efficiency
- Bachelor’s degree required
- MBA preferred
