The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is a visionary and operationally-minded executive leader responsible for overseeing all financial operations, ensuring compliance with global and local standards, and driving financial planning, analysis, and control across the organization.
Reporting directly to the President and serving as a key member of the Executive Leadership Team, the CFO acts as a high-impact strategic partner, providing the financial oversight and commercial insights necessary to drive sustainable growth within the evolving Canadian healthcare landscape.
This role is pivotal in securing the reliability of financial information, optimizing cash flow, managing risk, and building robust financial capabilities within the entity.
The CFO will play a key leadership role in managing the Operations Control function and supporting strategic initiatives, including the deployment and optimization of core IT/ERP systems.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting and Compliance
- Ensure finance reporting is in compliance with standards and regulations (including deep
knowledge of international financial and tax accounting standards and/or IFRS).
- Ensure that all external report obligations are met and comply with local accounting rules
and regulations.
- Ensure compliance with Group accounting standards and internal policies.
- Direct the preparation of all financial and management reports, including income
statements, balance sheets, tax returns, and cash flow statements.
- Deliver reliable financial statements in due time, giving a fair view of operations.
- Oversee monthly closings, review, and consolidation of financial results.
- Audit & Tax: Manage annual external audits, internal audits, and oversee the review of
corporate tax returns and audits in collaboration with the tax team.
- Standardized Reporting: Design and implement standardized reporting frameworks, dashboards, and "Flash" commentaries for global reporting to Air Liquide Corporate through Global Business Unit Home Healthcare in Paris.
Treasury, Cash Management, and Working Capital
- Optimize cash management and oversee the flow of cash.
- Control revenues and optimize working capital.
- Organize and enforce appropriate credit management policy, ensuring proper recovery
of outstanding balances.
- Manage financial indebtedness according to budget decisions and balance sheet
gearing under group guidance.
- Supervise investment of funds.
- Organize banking relationships in the region in coordination with Group Treasury.
Internal Control and Risk Management
- Ensure implementation of internal control processes and deploy key controls on processes to secure reliability of financial information and safety of assets.
- Handle control issues management forms in coordination with operations control.
- Evaluate financial, legal, fiscal, and other risks and liabilities.
- Ensure integrity of the Entity's cash, receivables, payables management, and optimized taxes.
- Control alignment with fiscal regulation and enforce internal discipline and controls in accounting reliability, assets safety, operation effectiveness, and regulation compliance through guidelines to managers.
Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A)
- Lead and manage the Financial Planning and Budget Process (Target- and
Forecast-Planning).
- Analysis and presentation of financial results to Top Management.
- Manage the target setting process.
- Manage the investment decision analysis and process.
- Control canonical appendix related to investment decision requests..
- Identify potential cost savings/efficiencies and implement respective measurements.
Strategic Support and Operations Control
- Manage Operations Control.
- Take an active role (business modeling assumptions review) in defining the entity's strategic objectives.
- Support the deployment and continuous improvement of the ERP system and other Group finance tools (e.g., reporting and planning tools).
Team Leadership and Development
- Departmental Oversight: lead and mentor a high-performing team of financial
professionals.
- Succession Planning: implement strategies to ensure the finance team is appropriately
staffed with solid succession plans in place.
- Coaching: provide training and development opportunities to enhance the technical and
leadership capabilities of the finance department.Build finance capability within the entity
and manage staff.
- Manage the Finance departments of the entities/subsidiaries.
- Assess the financial management needs of the entity and current capabilities.
- Develop staff with the experience and skills necessary to perform financial functions.
- Ensure the development and retention of talent.
- Fulfill tasks of immediate manager, related to mission of the job, in time and with high quality.
Required Education & Qualifications
- Education/certification: CPA (or CA), CFA, MBA, or equivalent senior finance designation preferred.
- Experience: 10+ years of progressive senior financial leadership experience, with significant time spent as a Corporate Controller or Finance Director.
- Technical Skills: Deep knowledge of IFRS, budgeting, forecasting, and ERP system implementations.
- Demonstrated ability to manage both strategy and hands-on execution.
- Software: Proficiency in Google platforms, Microsoft Office Suite, and specialized accounting software, Power BI.
