Role Overview
The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is the senior finance leader responsible for shaping financial strategy, safeguarding the company’s financial health, and enabling sustainable growth through disciplined planning, governance, and business partnership. In a high-growth healthcare SaaS startup, the CFO role extends beyond traditional accounting into recurring revenue analytics, pricing strategy, forecasting, investor readiness, operational decision support, and scalable financial operations.
This role requires strong SaaS finance expertise, BFSI exposure, Chartered Accountant qualification, and hands-on ownership of taxation, GST/commercial tax, compliance, controls, and corporate governance. The CFO will work closely with the CEO, founders, investors, and functional leaders to build a compliant, data-driven, and investor-ready finance organization that supports rapid scale and long-term business success.
The CFO will lead the finance function as a strategic advisor to the leadership team, driving financial planning, reporting, treasury, taxation, controls, and business decision support. The role also demands establishing strong financial discipline around subscription revenue, margins, collections, risk management, and capital allocation while bringing structured governance and operational rigor from BFSI experience into a startup environment.
Requirements
Key responsibilities
· Develop and drive the company’s financial strategy in line with business growth goals and long-term value creation.
· Lead annual budgets, rolling forecasts, long-range plans, and scenario analysis for growth, profitability, and cash preservation.
· Partner with the CEO and business heads on strategic decisions, investments, expansion plans, and performance improvement priorities.
· Own SaaS financial metrics such as MRR, ARR, churn, retention, gross margin, CAC, LTV, and unit economics to improve decision-making.
· Improve pricing, packaging, revenue forecasting, collections, and subscription business performance using data-led insights.
· Strengthen revenue recognition, billing governance, and recurring revenue visibility across the business.
· Oversee accounting operations, monthly and annual close, MIS, audit readiness, and accurate financial reporting.
· Build and maintain internal control frameworks that reduce risk, improve transparency, and support scale.
· Ensure timely reporting to management, board members, investors, lenders, and statutory stakeholders.
· Manage cash flow, working capital, banking relationships, and treasury planning to ensure financial stability.
· Evaluate capital structure, financing options, and fundraising support for business growth.
· Monitor liabilities, investments, and liquidity risks and recommend corrective action when required.
· Lead direct and indirect tax governance, including corporate tax, GST/commercial tax, TDS, tax planning, return accuracy, and regulatory submissions.
· Oversee tax assessments, audits, documentation, notices, and liaison with tax advisors, auditors, and authorities.
· Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards, statutory requirements, and regulatory obligations.
· Bring BFSI-style discipline to financial risk management, policy design, governance controls, and compliance monitoring.
· Identify financial, operational, and regulatory risks early and implement practical controls and mitigation plans.
· Support enterprise-wide compliance awareness by aligning finance processes with changing laws and business requirements.
· Work cross-functionally with sales, operations, legal, product, HR, and compliance teams on contracts, pricing, investments, and business decisions.
· Build, mentor, and lead finance, accounts, FP&A, and tax teams with clear accountability and process ownership.
· Drive finance automation, reporting systems, and process improvements to create a high-control, high-speed finance environment.

Mandatory
· Chartered Accountant (CA) qualification is mandatory.
· Strong experience in SaaS or subscription-led businesses with hands-on ownership of financial planning, recurring revenue reporting, and growth metrics.
· Strong BFSI expertise with exposure to governance, controls, compliance-heavy environments, and risk management.
· Deep understanding of business tax, corporate tax, GST/commercial tax, TDS, audits, and statutory compliance in India.
· Proven ability to work with founders and senior leaders in high-growth or transformation environments.
· Strong communication, executive presence, analytical ability, and team leadership skills.
Preferred
· Experience in healthcare SaaS, health tech, fin tech, or other regulated technology sectors.
· Experience supporting fundraising, investor reporting, and due diligence.
· Familiarity with ERP, subscription billing, reporting automation, and finance systems transformation.
